Published 2023-06-01
“…This contribution applies a reflexive approach to my diversified fieldworks carried out in some contexts that policies, social sciences and civil society call ‘marginal’ – albeit moved by very different perspectives and intentions –, bringing out the demand of people towards the anthropologist to be able to develop a ‘gentle’ relationship, capable of ‘culturally’ taking into account their biographies and their social ‘position’ without trapping them either in the first or in the second; and, therefore, investigating the meso and macro structural aspects of this positioning as well as their search for a 'good life'. …”

Experimental and Simulation Study of n-Heptane Adsorption on Rutile by G.U. Rakhmatkariev, A.J. Palace Carvalho, J.P. Prates Ramalho

Published 2007-09-01
“…The adsorption isotherm obtained from the combination of the isotherm for each face weighted by the respective abundance was found to be in good agreement with experimental data. A structural characterization of n-heptane near the surface was also conducted which indicated that the substrate strongly perturbed the distribution of the n-heptane conformations relative to the situation found for the gaseous phase. …”

Effect of Ion Magnetron Sputtering Method on Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM)Images of Materials with Different Surface Properties by ZHANG Jie, ZOU Junwen, LIU Xueguang, LI Xiaoying

Published 2024-12-01
“…In order to investigate the effect of ion magnetron sputtering parameters on the scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images of nonconductive materials with different surface properties, the advantages and limitations of various ion magnetron sputtering conditions, including target material, sputtering time and sputtering cycles were studied, along with their applicable ranges. Results showed that the gold target exhibited good continuity with large grain nucleation of gold.Due to its high sputtering energy, it easily caused thermal loss on the sample surface, and the gold grains adhered to the surface. Therefore, gold targets were found to be suitable for low -magnification SEM imaging(<10 000) and materials with a certain surface hardness. In contrast, the platinum target showed poor continuity with small platinum grain nucleation and lower sputtering energy. It was more likely to embed into the sample surface, forming a morphological framework, making it suitable for high-magnification SEM imaging (>30 000) and most non-conductive materials.Using a method of fewer, multiple ion magnetron sputtering cycles, reducing the sputtering cycles appropriately not only weakened the effect of the gold film on the material’s morphology and structure but also helped conserve resources and protect the environment. This result provides experimental guidance for researchers to scientifically and accurately analyze SEM images of samples.…”

Use of wood-plastic composites in 4D printing technology by Daša Krapež Tomec, test test, Aleš Straže, Matevž Kokot, Manja Kitek Kuzman, Mirko Kariž

Published 2021-12-01
“… Three-dimensional (3D) printing with wood-plastic composites is already well known, and the use of wood in four-dimensional (4D) printing is being increasingly explored. 4D printing is an evolving area of additive technologies where, with the appropriate design of 3D printing and use of appropriate materials, we can create products that change shape and form dynamic structures when triggered externally. In 4D printing, the hygroscopicity of wood – usually considered a disadvantage – can be used as a positive property to design products that change their shape according to climatic conditions, especially humidity. …”
