Deep application of controlled-release urea increases the yield and saponin content of Panax notoginseng by regulating soil nitrate distribution by Yun-xia Su, Yun-xia Su, Yun-xia Su, Ping Zhao, Li-jie Jia, Li-jie Jia, Li-jie Jia, Yuan-feng Cao, Guan-ze Liu, Guan-ze Liu, Jun-wen Chen, Jun-wen Chen, Sheng-chao Yang, Sheng-chao Yang, Yan-li Zhou, Guang-qiang Long, Guang-qiang Long, Guang-qiang Long

    Published 2025-01-01
“…The distribution depth of soil NO3⁻-N and plant roots increased with the depth of CRU application, with a high overlap in time and space, indicating P. notoginseng N uptake peaked when CRU was applied at a depth of 6 cm (R6). Structural equation modeling indicated that soil NO3⁻-N supply in specific microareas directly affected the N uptake and increased total saponin content by increasing root length and surface area, thus boosting yield.ConclusionThis study identifies that the deep application of CRU at a depth of 6 cm has the potential to enhance both yield and quality of P. notoginseng and highlights that the spatial-temporal matching of soil NO₃⁻-N and plant roots was the key to applying CRU to ensure high yield and quality.…”

Effects of nitrogen fertilizer basal-to-top-dressing ratios on maize straw decomposition, soil carbon and nitrogen, and bacterial community structure in different soil textures on... by Jingyu Li, Jingyu Li, Xiaonan Yang, Rui Hou, Yujie Ma, Yanqun Wang, Yang Ma, Wenchao Zhen, Yuanyuan Huang, Xin Fu, Zhengping Peng, Zhengping Peng, Mingxin Men

    Published 2025-02-01
“…N application significantly influenced bacterial diversity, with higher diversity observed with the N4:6 ratio in loam and the N5:5 ratio in clay loam. Structural equation modeling indicated that different N application treatments in loam influenced maize straw decomposition by altering the soil C/N ratio and bacterial community diversity, while in clay loam, N application treatments influenced maize straw decomposition mainly by altering the soil C/N ratio. …”

Potential impact and mechanism of aged polyethylene microplastics on nitrogen assimilation of Lactuca sativa L. by Xiaoli Mou, Hedong Zhu, Renrui Dai, Li Lu, Shengqi Qi, Min Zhu, Yuyang Long, Nan Ma, Chao Chen, Jiali Shentu

    Published 2025-02-01
“…The toxic effect of aged MNPs on growth and N assimilation in lettuce was much greater than that of the particle size, which was attributed to the carbonyl and hydroxyl groups caused by aging. Structural equation modeling showed that soil nitrogen positively affected total nitrogen (TN) (0.359), chlorophyll (0.665), Rubisco (0.441), soluble protein (0.383), and biomass (0.460), and negatively affected phosphoenolpyruvate carboxylase (PEPC) (-0.325), soluble sugar (-0.134). …”
