Public security in the pre-classical political and legal thought of ancient Greece by Y. O. Zahumenna

    Published 2022-03-01
“…It is proved that the ancient political and legal doctrines, which comprehend public safety, have the following main features: its nationalization (elevation of the state and its institutions in guaranteeing this security), personalization (close dependence of personal security on public, sometimes even raising personal security over public), universalization (security as a phenomenon of the space world order, general Hellenic security), rationalization (discursive understanding of public security issues), legalization (transfer of public security issues to the plane of its legal support, which becomes imperative, mandatory compliance with polis laws, a system of severe penalties for offenses in the field of public safety, law and order in society and the state), indefiniteness of the actual state and public security (which was due to the polis nature of the state system), axiologization (security as a high human and social value, as a good, as an integral element of the polis worldview and ensuring the proper organization of polis life), polymorphism (breadth of spectrum of public security and specification of its “images” in philosophy, poetry, historiography, rhetoric, etc.). …”

Quantitative Evaluation of Top Coal Caving Methods at the Working Face of Extra-Thick Coal Seams Based on the Random Medium Theory by Shi Jiulin, Zhang Quntao, Gao Xiaojin, Xue Jisheng

    Published 2021-01-01
“…The results show the following: (1) The coal-rock settlement and the caving body demonstrate clear axial symmetrical features along the working face; the size of the caving body increases as the caving height grows and its shape turns progressively from semicircular to semielliptical with a lower foot of the coal-rock settlement. (2) The caving interval is derived using the sum of the radii of the coal-rock settlement curves formed by the two largest caving bodies. (3) The symmetrical caving approach provides a symmetrical space for the subsequent movement of the broken top coal, which enables a uniform development of the caving body. (4) Compared with the traditional sequential coal caving method with the same number of supports, the interval symmetrical caving method results in a 21.7% of coal production increase, 17% caving rate promotion, and a shortened caving time by 23.4%. (5) The interval symmetrical caving method is found to improve the controllability of the caving process at the fully mechanized top coal caving working face. …”
