Interspecific medicinal knowledge and Mahout-Elephant interactions in Thongmyxay district, Laos
Published 2022-12-01“…The medicinal uses they make of some of these plants in their households are more consistent with their observations of these elephant behaviours than it is with the use of the same items by local healers, suggesting a transfer of medicinal knowledge from elephants to mahouts.Since some of the village elephants in Thongmyxay are still periodically released and come into contact with their wild counterparts, the domestication space forms an interface between humans, wild elephants and the forest, and we discuss conversely the possibility of knowledge transfer from mahouts to village elephants through the ethnoveterinary care they receive. This knowledge which is precious for the health and well-being of people and elephants in Laos is threatened by the reduction of the forest cover sheltering the resources used, and by the relocation of village elephants to tourist centres. …”

Short-Range Nonstationary Clutter Suppression for Airborne KA-STAP Radar in Complex Terrain Environment
Published 2025-01-01“…Due to the range ambiguity effect and the complex terrain environment, the remote weak target of interest for nonsidelooking airborne radar is usually superimposed with the nonstationary and heterogeneous short-range strong clutter, so it is difficult for the traditional space–time adaptive processing (STAP) methods to achieve effective moving target detection. …”

Self-assembly by anti-repellent structures for programming particles with momentum
Published 2024-12-01“…By using anti-repellent traps, physical interactions between neighbouring particles can be inhibited, resolving many phenomena related to the uncertainty of space-sharing events in granular packing. With our self-assembly strategy, highly dense yet unjammed configurations are demonstrated, which conserve the inherent randomness in the location information of each granule in the trap and are useful for robust multilevel authentication systems as unique applications.…”
