Human activity recognition system based on low-cost IoT chip ESP32
Published 2023-06-01“…Human activity recognition widely exists in applications such as sports management and activity classification. The current human activity recognition applications are mainly divided into three types: camera-based, wearable device-based, and Wi-Fi awareness-based.Among them, the camera-based human activity recognition application has the risk of privacy leakage, and the wearable device-based human activity recognition application has problems such as short battery life and poor accuracy.Human activity recognition based on Wi-Fi sensing generally uses Wi-Fi network cards or software-defined radio devices to identify the rules of channel state information changes, so as to infer user activity. It does not have the problems of privacy leakage and short battery life. But Wi-Fi network cards need to rely on computers and software-defined radio platforms are expensive, which greatly limit the application scenarios of Wi-Fi sensing.Aiming at the above problems, a human activity recognition system based on the low-cost IoT chip ESP32 was proposed.Specifically, the Hampel filter and Gaussian filter were used to preprocess the channel state information obtained by ESP32.Then, the principal component analysis and discrete wavelet transform were utilized to reduce the dimension of the data. Finally, the K-nearest neighbor (KNN) algorithm was applied to classify data. The experimental results show that the system can achieve a recognition accuracy which close to the current mainstream Wi-Fi perception system (Intel 5300 network card) when only two ESP32 nodes are deployed, and the average accuracy rate for the six activities is 98.6%.…”

Estimation of Evapotranspiration and Its Variation Characteristics in Yongji Irrigation Area of Hetao Irrigation District Based on SEBAL Model
Published 2023-01-01“…Evapotranspiration (ET) is a key link in the hydrological cycle and energy cycle, and accurate estimation of ET is crucial for agricultural water use scheduling and water resources management. In order to establish a quick estimation method of regional ET based on remote sensing technology, this paper selected the Yongji Irrigation Area of the Hetao Irrigation District as the study area.By using Landsat remote sensing images and land use classification results,a SEBAL model was constructed to estimate the daily ET for the 2019 growing season in the Yongji Irrigation Area. Then, the spatial and temporal variation characteristics of ET in the study area and the differences of ET in different land types were analyzed. The results indicate that:① Compared with the FAO P-M formula,SEBAL model estimation results yield a determination coefficient R2 of 0.94;the root-mean-square error (RMSE) is 0.43 mm/d,and the relative error (MRE) is 8.62%.The inversion accuracy of the model is higher, which can provide a reasonable ET estimation for the study area.② The average daily ET in the Yongji Irrigation Area shows an unimodal trend during the growing season, with a maximum value of 4.56 mm/d in July and a minimum value of 1.87 mm/d in October, and there are obvious differences in spatial distribution.③ The daily ET of different land use types is as follows:water bodies>arable land>urban and rural land>grassland>wasteland.Overall, the estimation of regional ET based on the SEBAL model can provide a reference for the economical utilization of water resources in irrigation areas.…”

Effects of Land Use Change on Chlorophyll Concentration in Shahe River Basin of Tianmu Lake in the Past 20 Years
Published 2023-01-01“…The Shahe River Basin of Tianmu Lake provides drinking, irrigation, tourism, fishery, and other functions, which plays a crucial role in regional ecological security. In view of the actual demand and pressure of coexisting protection and development in this region, this study aims to make clear the comprehensive impact of regional eutrophication and human activities on the main water environmental factors in the reservoir area.Satellite remote sensing images and monitored chlorophyll-a concentrations in 2001,2011,and 2021 were used as basic data for research:① During the study period, the basin was in a state of moderate eutrophication.② According to remote sensing images, the land types in the Tianmu Lake area can be divided into water body, forest land, grassland, cultivated land, building land, and bare land. The cultivated land area was increased by 83% due to human activities.③ A correlation analysis was conducted between the area of each land use type and the change of chlorophyll-a concentration (the key index of water quality objective management) in the reservoir area. The results show that chlorophyll-a concentration is positively correlated with the areas of water body, forest land, building land, and cultivated land and negatively correlated with the areas of grassland and bare land. The correlation coefficients of chlorophyll-a concentration with the areas of building land and cultivated land are 0.536 and 0.773,respectively,which both influenced the water environment of the reservoir area to a certain extent. There is a close relationship between land use and water environment protection in the Shahe River Basin, which can provide important reference for the system planning and protection of the reservoir area.…”
