Combining genotyping approaches improves resolution for association mapping: a case study in tropical maize under water stress conditions
Published 2025-01-01“…In terms of accuracy, the combination of genotyping scenarios compared to those isolated is feasible and recommended, as it increased all traits under both water conditions. In this sense, it is worth highlighting the combination of GBS-B73 and GBS-Mock scenarios, not only due to the increase in the resolution of GWAS results but also the reduction of costs associated with genotyping and the possibility of conducting genomic breeding methods.…”

Evidence-informed language: interpretation and impact on intentions to treat – results of an online survey of medical students and specialists in German-speaking countries
Published 2025-02-01“…Additionally, the number of eligible patients who would be treated was assessed. Results N=1081 physicians and N=539 medical students completed the survey. (1) Less than half of the participants (48.5%) interpreted use of ‘associated with’ as linguistic differentiation between results from randomised versus non-randomised trials in a sense as put forward by the proponents. However, use of the subjunctive mood (‘could’) resulted in 87.3% correct differentiations. (2) Even with only four types of clinical practice recommendations (positive/negative and strong/weak), interpretation and translation into intention to treat, respectively, showed a heterogeneous picture: while the presentation of a strong clinical recommendation led to largely congruent responses, the interpretation of weak recommendations showed a high variability, with no clear response pattern for intentions to treat. …”

Socio-economic inequalities in access to COVID-19 tests in France in 2020: evidence from the EPICOV socio-epidemiological cohort
Published 2025-01-01“…However, there was no link between testing and income, education, or ethno-racial status.InterpretationWhen an individual experiences symptoms but has no close relative who is positive, the motivation to test to avoid transmitting the virus to relatives by isolating oneself is particularly strong. This strategy makes sense when there are actual possibilities to isolate, which may explain why higher income and education positively impact the propensity to test. …”

Observations on old Serbian terminology for iron mining and processing: Želězo and gvozdje
Published 2024-01-01“…The word železník in this sense, apparently calqued on Middle High German îsensmit, is attested in Old Czech, wherefrom it appears to have spread to Slovenia (place name Železniki) and perhaps also to the medieval Serbia, where the development of mining can be traced back to the mid-thirteenth century owing to the German settlers (OSerb Sasi, ‘Saxons’); presumably a part of them originated from the Czech lands; at least their first settlement on the Serbian soil, Brskovo, seems to have been named after Brzkov in the mining district around Jihlava (Iglau), on the historical border between Bohemia and Moravia. …”
