Research Status and Prospects of River Ecological Flow Monitoring by WU Yihan, WANG Yu

    Published 2022-01-01
“…River ecological flow is a key index for ensuring the ecological functions of rivers, and it is also an important basis for river ecological health assessment and ecological restoration.Ecological flow monitoring is not only a prerequisite for ecohydrological response and optimal allocation of water resources but also an important means of ensuring the process of ecological flow.Due to differences in river characteristics, the ecological flow monitoring method used directly affects the monitoring result. This paper compares domestic and foreign methods of river ecological flow monitoring from the perspectives of monitoring effect, monitoring scope, monitoring accuracy, and real-time performance and summarizes the drawbacks and prospects of current research on river ecological flow monitoring.Feasibility suggestions are also presented to provide scientific guidance for future study and application of river ecological flow monitoring systems.…”

Temporal and Spatial Variation Characteristics of Base Flow and Its Influencing Factors in Middle and Lower Reaches of Yangtze River by JIANG Lei, HE Ya'nan, GU Xihui

    Published 2024-10-01
“…Base flow is an important part of runoff, so it is important to choose a reasonable base flow segmentation method to estimate base flow, understand the changing characteristics of base flow and base flow index, and identify the driving factors of base flow and base flow index change for the protection and management of river ecology. Based on the daily runoff data and meteorological data of 64 hydrological stations in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, the base flow segmentation results of three digital filtering methods (Lyne-Hollick method, Chapman-Maxwell method, and Eckhardt Method) and smoothing minimum method were compared, and the driving factors of base flow and base flow index changes were analyzed from the aspects of climate and underlying surface factors. …”

Rivers help us to quantify the socio-ecological functioning of their basin at the Anthropocene: the Seine example (1850–2020) by Meybeck, Michel, Bouleau, Gabrielle, Carré, Catherine, Garnier, Josette, Lestel, Laurence

    Published 2022-09-01
“…Medium-sized river basins make it possible to perform such detailed analyses, which combines historical river fluxes, material flows, river ecology, environmental history and political ecology.Such an interdisciplinary approach at the scale of the Seine basin, undertaken by the PIREN-Seine research program, started in 1989, has shown how scientific and technological knowledge, environmental awareness, environmental regulations and policies, and political decisions have played a role on water quality during that period.…”

Study on Optimal Utilization of Water Resources in Shiqiao Hydropower Station by ZHAO Yufeng

    Published 2021-01-01
“…For the scientific, reasonable and efficient use of water resources, this paper establishes a multi-objective optimization and development model of Shiqiao Hydropower Station with the power generation and firm output as the goal, and the river ecological flow as the main constraint, builds a solution model by the mathematical simulation technology, and obtains the optimal operation and scheduling scheme of the hydropower station under inflow conditions in typical years for realizing the unity of economic goals and ecological goals of the hydropower station. With consideration of multiple factors such as ecology, topography and water resources, the No.15 scheme with annual power generation of 20.232 million kW·h and firm output of 1 336 kW is selected as the optimal operation and scheduling scheme of Shiqiao Hydropower Station under inflow conditions in typical years,in which the water resources of Shiqiao Hydropower Station can be fully utilized.…”
