Study on the Impact of Step Layout on Secondary Energy Dissipation and Flow Pattern of Spillway Tailwater
Published 2021-01-01“…A secondary energy dissipation is required between the sill underflow stilling basin and the downstream tailrace at the outlet of the Dabaitian Reservoir spillway in Fengqing County,Yunnan Province. At the same time, the stepped energy dissipation section is connected through a 40° bend to adapt to the change of terrain.Through the hydraulic model test research, based on the original plan, after the water flowing out of the stilling basin passes through the stepped bend,an obvious Z-shaped folded water flow is produced on the plane. When it occurs once in 30 years, the water velocity on the left side of the bend reaches 9.97 m/s,threatening the stability of the rock formations along the slope of the left bank. The modified plan of step backward movement can effectively improve the flow pattern in the bend.On this basis,an improved plan to reduce the size of the original step (2.50 m×1.50 m to 1.00 m×0.60 m) is proposed to avoid falling water flow at the location of the step in the case of frequent small-flow floods. The research results show that in the improved stepped energy dissipation combination for bend, the water depth distribution along the cross section of the tailrace downstream of the stilling basin is relatively even in the case of small-flow floods, and the flow patten is improved significantly,so the water flowing back to the river smoothly is realized under frequent flood discharges.…”

Study on the Evolution of Water Gushing and Mud Bursting Process in Karst Tunnel
Published 2020-01-01“…With overall consideration of the influence of geological structure, hydrologic features, andconstruction, this paper abstractly generalizes the evolution of water gushing and mud burstingprocess in karst tunnel into four stages as follows:①The formation stage of karst geologicalenvironment provides geological conditions for the development and evolution of disaster-causingstructures;②The expansion stage of karst water system channel provides space for the storage andflow of water gushing and mud bursting; ③The critical state formation stage of karst watergushing and mud bursting is mainly affected by the disaster-causing mud & water body and theartificial excavation of tunnels; ④The energy release and depressurization stage of karst watergushing and mud bursting is the end of the whole process, indicating that the disaster hasoccurred.Based on case analysis, the water gushing and mud bursting in karst tunnel is divided into 11types in 3 classes according to different factors as follows: geological structure class (faulttype, syncline type, anticline type, lithology interface type), water gushing channel class(fracture type, pipe type, cave type, underground river type), and water gushing and mud burstingclass (water gushing type, mud bursting type, mud and water bursting type). The research results canprovide reference for the research on the control of water gushing and mud bursting in the tunneland the safety construction of the tunnel.…”

Research on Runoff Simulation of Arid Oasis Irrigation Area Based on SWAT Model
Published 2021-01-01“…In order to study the runoff changes in the arid oasis irrigation area, this paper constructs a distributed hydrological model of Yanqi Basin based on SWAT model with the Chinese meteorological assimilation driving datasets (CMADS) from 1955 to 2017,traditional hydrometeorological station data, land use data, soil data, digital elevation data, analyzes the sensitivity of parameters by SUFI-2 (Sequential Uncertainty Fitting) algorithm, calibrates several important parameters influencing runoff simulation results through SWAT-CUP (SWAT Calibration Uncertainty Procedures) software, and verifies the model by the measured runoff from 1991 to 2017.The results show that:the simulated runoff of Yanqi Basin in Xinjiang for a long time scales coincides with the measured runoff.During the calibration period and verification period, the Nash coefficient (NES) is above 0.82,the Pearson correlation coefficient (R2) is 0.86 and 0.90 respectively, and the relative error (Re) is less than 10.Therefore,SWAT model is well applicable to the runoff simulation of Yanqi Basin.Based on this, runoff changes from 2016 to 2100 in Yanqi Basin under the scenarios of RCP4.5 and RCP8.5 are simulated. It can be found that precipitation changes in Kaidu River basin have a significant impact on runoff in Yanqi Basin, that is,when precipitation increases by 20% and temperature increases by 2°C,the runoff increases by 26.53% compared with the current year.…”

Construction Technologies of Self-compacting Concrete for Lining of Water Conveyance Shield Tunnel
Published 2022-01-01“…Some problems exist in the construction of composite lining of water conveyance shield tunnel, such as vertical transportation of self-compacting concrete (SCC) in deep work shafts,long-distance horizontal transportation of SCC in tunnels, and placing and casting of SCC in closed ring structures. In response to them,a transportation method and a placing mode suitable for SCC were chosen. The spacing of casting holes on the lined steel pipe (inner mold) was reasonably determined for SCC through a simulation test.Depending on the characteristics of the composite lining structure and the construction performance of SCC,related calculations and analyses are carried out for reasonable determination of the casting process and quality control measures such as the length of casting section, layer thickness, and placing speed. The determined parameters were applied in the pilot project of Shenzhen main branch of the Water Resources Allocation Project in the Pearl River Delta. We found that no aggregate separation occurred during the transportation of SCC,and the lined steel pipe did not float up or drift sideward during the casting of SCC.The drilling and coring test results showed that the height of the void between SCC and outer lining segment on the vault met the design requirements, and the lining space of closed ring structures was filled after backfilling and grouting. These results indicate that the SCC of composite lining is of good quality.Relevant construction technologies can provide references for the construction of similar projects.…”

Spatiotemporally Combined Dimensionality Reduction Algorithm for Optimizing Long-term Operation of Multi-reservoir Systems
Published 2023-01-01“…To alleviate the “curse of dimensionality” and improve the solution efficiency while ensuring the quality of solutions in optimizing the operation of multi-reservoir systems, this paper proposes a spatiotemporally combined dimensionality reduction algorithm which integrates and improves the dynamic programming with successive approximation (DPSA) and the progressive optimality algorithm (POA).First,a chain-based successive approximation strategy is proposed to expand the DPSA's optimization mode from “single reservoir alternation” to “cascade reservoir chain alternation”,which makes up for the DPSA's shortcomings in dealing with the hydraulic coupling relationships among cascade reservoirs. Then,a dynamic variable decoupling strategy and perturbation mechanism are proposed to deal with the POA's blind search problem and dimensionality problem. Finally, the two improved algorithms are combined,in which the improved POA is applied to solving the optimization problems of cascade reservoir chains under the framework of the improved DPSA.The power generation operation problem of the cascade reservoirs in the Yuan River Basin of Hunan Province and the classical ten-reservoir problem are utilized to test the performance of the proposed algorithm. The proposed algorithm outperforms seven existing alternatives in terms of solution quality and efficiency. The results indicate that the proposed algorithm can effectively alleviate the “curse of dimensionality” in optimizing the operation of multi-reservoir systems, improve the efficiency while ensuring the quality of solutions and has potential to be applied to optimizing the operation of complex large-scale multi-reservoir systems.…”
