Optimal control of chikungunya disease: Larvae reduction, treatment and prevention by Djamila Moulay, M. A. Aziz-Alaoui, Hee-Dae Kwon

    Published 2012-02-01
“…The nature of these arboviruses is complex since it conjugates human, environmental, biological and geographical factors.Recent researchs have suggested, in particular during the Réunion Island epidemic in 2006, that the transmission by Aedes albopictus (an Aedes genus specie) has been facilitated by genetic mutations of the virus and the vector capacity to adapt to non tropical regions. In this paper we formulate an optimal control problem, based on biological observations. …”

Design and implementation for partition dynamically vector quantization chip by YU Ning-mei, WANG Dong-fang, LIAO Yu-min, FU Yun-qiang

    Published 2009-01-01
“…Partition dynamically vector quantization(PDVQ) chip was researched and produced to encode images. Before encoding,it first judged the correlation of the encoding image block, and then decided to choose the size of the image blocks.Test result shows that PDVQ chip can improve the compression rate to 27% in average by contrasting with the normal VQ,even to 64%.The size of the codebook in PDVQ chip was 256×16 byte, and all codevectors in the codebook were categorized by direction,in each category codebook codewords were sorted in the ascending order of their sum, this kind codebook architecture could reduce search range largely. The VLSI architecture of PDVQ chip was implemented based on Charter 0.35μm CMOS standard cell technology, its chip area was 2.08mm×2.08mm.Test result shows that,at 3.0V power supply,PDVQ chip can operate up to 100MHz.At this operation, its power dissipation is 295mW,and it can support real-time encoding application for 512×512 gray images at 30fame/s.…”

Virtual machine scheduling strategy based on dual-speed and work vacation mode and its parameter optimization by Shun-fu JIN, Shan-shan HAO, Bao-shuai WANG

    Published 2017-12-01
“…Due to the increasingly strict environmental standards, high pollution and high energy consumption have become the significant factors restricting the development of cloud data centers (CDC).Under the premise of guaranteeing the quality of service (QoS) of CDC,dynamic power management (DPM) technology was applied, synchronous multiple working sleep mode was introduced, and a novel virtual machine (VM) scheduling strategy was proposed.By establishing a two-dimensional continuous-time Markov stochastic model with adaptive service rate and synchronous multiple work vacations, and using the method of a matrix geometric solution, the performance of the VM scheduling strategy was evaluated in terms of energy saving level and average delay of requests.Numerical results with analysis and simulation verify the energy saving effectiveness of the VM scheduling strategy. In order to achieve a reasonable balance between the response performance and the energy-saving effect,a system utility function was constructed from the perspective of economics and design a researching algorithm of the sleep parameter based on the firefly algorithm(FA).…”
