HighDimMixedModels.jl: Robust high-dimensional mixed-effects models across omics data. by Evan Gorstein, Rosa Aghdam, Claudia Solís-Lemus

    Published 2025-01-01
“…Our simulations provide new insights into the algorithm's behavior in these settings, and, comparing the performance of two popular penalties, we demonstrate that the smoothly clipped absolute deviation (SCAD) penalty consistently outperforms the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) penalty in terms of both variable selection and estimation accuracy across omics data. To empower researchers in biology and other fields to fit models with the SCAD penalty, we implement the algorithm in a Julia package, HighDimMixedModels.jl.…”

Cooperative trajectory prediction system for intelligent and automated connected convoy based on blockchain by Rensheng WANG, Tianhao WU, Lin ZHANG, Konglin ZHU

    Published 2020-06-01
“…Autonomous vehicles have been extensively researched and developed rapidly in recent years. However, these vehicles may be not able to avoid collision with vehicles that appear suddenly. To solve this problem,a cooperative trajectory prediction system for intelligent and automated connected convoy based on blockchain was proposed. In the proposed system, each node in the intelligent and automated connected convoy and roadside infrastructure predict the trajectory of vehicles around them with the LSTM model, and they share the information they get.Using blockchain, the intelligent and automated connected convoy and roadside infrastructure rate the received messages. The summarized rating will be stored as a block in the blockchain that stores the trust values.Vehicles in the intelligent and automated connected convoy are able to judge whether the other nodes in the Conroy are credible according to their trust value, and messages from the low trust value sender will be ignored, thus achieving cooperative driving.Experiment shows that the proposed system plays a significant role in improving driving safety of the intelligent connected platoon.…”

Sequential image deep learning-based Wi-Fi human activity recognition method by Qizhen ZHOU, Jianchun XING, Qiliang YANG, Deshuai HAN

    Published 2020-08-01
“…For the problems existing in most of the researches, such as weak anti-noise ability, incompatible signal size and insufficient feature extraction of deep-learning-based Wi-Fi human activity recognition,a kind of sequential image deep learning-based recognition method was proposed.Based on the idea of sequential image deep learning,a series of image frames were reconstructed from time-varied Wi-Fi signal to ensure the consistency of input size.In addition,a low-rank decomposition method was innovatively designed to separate low-rank activity information merged in noises. Finally,a deep model combining temporal stream and spatial stream was proposed to automatically capture the spatiotemporal features from length-varied image sequences. The proposed method was extensively tested in WiAR dataset and self collected dataset. The experimental results show the proposed method could achieve the accuracy of 0.94 and 0.96,which indicate its high-accuracy performance and robustness in pervasive environments.…”
