Attacks on Telex Internet anticensorship system by Long-hai LI, Cheng-qiang HUANG, Wan-xing WANG, Jian-jun MU

    Published 2014-09-01
“…As a typical router-redirecting based anticensorship system,Telex poses new challenges for Internet censors. To help common users evade Internet censorship,Telex employs network routers, rather than end-hosts,to relay network traffics to blocked destinations. The security of Telex from the censors' perspective is analyzed, and two kinds of active attacks aiming to break users' privacy are presented. The first is a kind of DoS attack, which exploits a security flaw of Telex handshake protocol. It can probabilistically identify the users who are using Telex,as well as break the availability of Telex. An improved handshake protocol to remedy the flaw is also proposed. The second is called TCP packets by-passing attack.Under that attacking scenario, censors make a small fraction of TCP packets from clients bypass the router and reach the cover site directly through asymmetric routing paths or IP tunnels, then determine whether a user is utiliz-ing Telex by observing the reaction of upstream traffic. The feasibility of bypassing attack has been testified by a series of experiments in a prototype environment. The bypassing attack is also applicable to other router-redirecting based anti-censorship systems.…”

A Hybrid Multiuser Detector Based on MMSE and AFSA for TDRS System Forward Link by Zhendong Yin, Xu Jiang, Zhilu Wu, Xiaohui Liu

    Published 2014-01-01
“…This study mainly focuses on multiuser detection in tracking and data relay satellite (TDRS) system forward link. Minimum mean square error (MMSE) is a low complexity multiuser detection method, but MMSE detector cannot achieve satisfactory bit error ratio and near-far resistance, whereas artificial fish swarm algorithm (AFSA) is expert in optimization and it can realize the global convergence efficiently. …”

LPTA: Location Predictive and Time Adaptive Data Gathering Scheme with Mobile Sink for Wireless Sensor Networks by Chuan Zhu, Yao Wang, Guangjie Han, Joel J. P. C. Rodrigues, Jaime Lloret

    Published 2014-01-01
“…According to local clocks and the time-location formulas of the mobile sink, nodes in the network are able to calculate the current location of the mobile sink accurately and route data packets timely toward the mobile sink by multihop relay. Considering that data packets generating from different areas may be different greatly, an adaptive dwelling time adjustment method is also proposed to balance energy consumption among nodes in the network. …”

PSFCS: Robust Emergency Communications Supporting High Mobility Based on WiMAX MMR Networks by Wen-Kang Jia, Chia-Yao Chen, Yaw-Chung Chen

    Published 2014-04-01
“…Since it is difficult to fully eliminate the Doppler effect under high speed moving environment, we propose an enhanced CRC-based error correction scheme that carries as much extra segmented frame Check Sequence (FCS) information as subblocks of emergency multicast/broadcast service (MBS) frame, called progressive and selective frame check sequence (PSFCS). In a mobile multihop relay (MMR) environment, a high-mobility mobile station might receive an emergency MBS frame more than once, so the PSFCS could be cross-referenced by duplicated frames received. …”
