Developing and validating a scale for non-academic staff’s service competencies in higher education by Phan Thi Nga, Amjad Shamim, Rohani Salleh

    Published 2025-12-01
“…Though scholars have given significant attention to research on service quality in higher education, there is limited research exploring the contribution of non-academic staff to enhancing service quality at higher education institutions. One reason for the lack of empirical research on this topic is the absence of a measurement scale for the service competencies of non-academic staff (NONACA-SERCOM) in higher education institutions. …”

    Published 2025-01-01
“…Therefore, the Expected Shortage per Replenishment Cycle, ESPCR, is an essential indicator in inventory management for several reasons. On the one hand, it gives information about the number of units not served in each cycle, and on the other hand, it is fundamental in determining service levels or shortage costs. …”

Metrics for code obfuscation based on symbolic execution and N-scope complexity by Yuqiang XIAO, Yunfei GUO, Yawen WANG

    Published 2022-12-01
“…Code obfuscation has been well developed as mitigated endogenous security technology, to effectively resist MATE attacks (e.g.reverse engineering). And it also has important value for the reasonable metrics of code obfuscation effect.Since symbolic execution is widely used in anti-obfuscation attacks, metrics for code obfuscation resilience can refer to the efforts of generating input test set for executing all program paths. However, some adversarial techniques could reduce the symbol execution efficiency significantly based on the nested structure of the program and increase the error of the resilience reference. To solve the above problems, a metrics for code obfuscation was proposed based on symbolic execution and N-scope complexity. The obfuscation resilience was defined with symbolic execution time and obfuscation potency was defined based on the proposed N-scope complexity for better robustness in measuring the resilience of multi-nested structure programs.Furthermore, the correlation analysis of obfuscation effect was proposed and the effect was quantified by symbolic execution and control flow diagram extraction of programs.Over 4000 obfuscated programs from 3 open-sourced assemblies were evaluated with proposed metrics in the experiment, which indicated the generalization performance and practicality of the metrics. And an example of this metrics application was presented in a simulated obfuscation scenario which provided references of obfuscation technology metrics and obfuscation configuration for obfuscation users.…”

A Strength Design Method of Cemented Backfill with a High Aspect Ratio by Zhi-zhihui Wang, Ai-xiang Wu, Hong-jiang Wang

    Published 2020-01-01
“…As for the backfill with a high aspect ratio of height to length, the shape of the slip surface is not straight when in the active state due to the limited space, which is different from the general backfill. For this reason, a formulation of the slip surface with a curved shape and a lateral pressure calculation method based on this curved slip surface were proposed. …”

De la meilleure façon de constituer une collection. Le cas des émaux « byzantins » de Mikhaïl Botkine by Aglaé Achechova

    Published 2014-04-01
“…A thorough investigation by the designer of the house of Fabergé, François Birbaum, enabled the secret workshop that had produced most of the enamels in Mikhail Botkin’s collection to be discovered in 1914. The reasons for a collector to put together, apparently with full knowledge of the facts, a collection of fakes may be many: the control of the quantity and the quality of the pieces he was collecting, the mastery of the competition of the elimination of the concerns usually encountered: the rarity and uncertain provenance of the objects.…”

La représentation paradoxale du chemin de fer chez Dickens : fantastique et mythe au service d’une peinture de la modernité dans Dombey and Son (1848) et « No. 1 Branch Line. The S... by Françoise Dupeyron-Lafay

    Published 2010-06-01
“…But what appears more surprising and paradoxical is the use of archaic elements, such as myth, and teratological images—as in Dombey and Son—to depict modernity. The reason may lie in the fact that trains or factories, belching fumes and staining everything about them, were seen as dangerous, all-powerful, voracious monsters and that writers were powerless in front of such disturbing, unprecedented phenomena and had to fall back on familiar, reassuring narrative techniques to come to terms with them. …”

Le développement durable face à sa crise : un concept menacé, sous-exploité ou dépassé ? by Jacques Theys

    Published 2014-07-01
“…One possible explanation for this fading is that “sustainable development” has been deeply embedded in the context of the globalisation process which began at the end of the eighties and ended with the economic crisis in 2008. Another possible reason is the overuse – and misuse- which has been done of this badly defined notion during the last twenty years- with a weak efficiency: the ambiguity – which has strongly contributed to its historical success-, turns now to be a factor of distrust. …”
