Effect of Electroacupuncture at Acupoints of Yangming Meridian on Denervated Muscle Atrophy of Rats by Xuan CHEN, Xiaoran YE, Yiyi ZHUANG, Xiaoqing HUANG

Published 2018-12-01
“…Objective:To observe the effect of electroacupuncture at Yangming meridian acupoints on denervated muscular atrophy. Methods:A total of 60 SD rats were randomly divided into control group, model group, non-acupoint group, other meridian group and Yangming meridian group, with 12 cases in each group.Except for the control group, the left sciatic nerve were cut off in the other four groups. The control group and model group did not receive electro-acupuncture treatment; non-acupoint group, other meridian group and Yangming meridian group was treated by electro-acupuncture instrument (dense wave, frequency 2/33 Hz, intensity 1.5-2 mA).The non-acupoint group selected Zusanli acupoint and Shangjuxu acupoint 0.5 cm apart;other meridian group took Yinlingquan acupoint and Diji acupoint; Yangming meridian group took Zusanli and Shangjuxu acupoint, Once a day, 30 minutes a time, five days a course of treatment, continuous treatment for four courses. After treatment for four courses, the SFI, RWW, RCA, RFD, AI of affected/contralateral gastrocnemius muscle were observed, and the expression of PAX3/PAX7 was observed by double immunofluorescence staining. Results:Compared with the control group, SFI, RWW, RCA and RFD in the model group, non-acupoint group, other meridian group and Yangming meridian group decreased significantly, AI and PAX7 increased significantly, with statistically significant differences (P<0.05); Compared with the model group, SFI, RCA, RFD and PAX7 in the other meridian group and Yangming meridian group increased significantly, AI decreased significantly, RWW and PAX3 in Yangming meridian group increased significantly, with statistically significant differences (P<0.05); Compared with other meridian group, RWW, RCA, RFD, PAX3 in Yangming meridian group increased significantly, AI decreased significantly, with statistically significant differences (P<0.05).Conclusion:Electroacupuncture at Yangming meridian acupoints can improve the function and histomorphology of denervated limbs, reduce the apoptotic level of muscle cells, promote the proliferation and differentiation of muscle cells, and effectively prevent and treat muscle atrophy of rats.…”
