DMA-based key generation method for IoT scenario by Yinuo HAO, Zhou ZHONG, Xiaoli SUN, Liang JIN

    Published 2022-12-01
“…Aiming at the problems of slow update frequency of channel key, low generation rate and limited node resources in the IoT scenario, a DMA-based physical layer key generation method was proposed, by using the agility and reconfigurability of DMA to improve the time variability and randomness of received signal.Firstly, DMA was used by the transmitter to randomly weight the signal and send it to the receiver, which could enhance the randomness of signals on the premise of ensuring the transparent reception of the signal. Then, the key from the received signal was extracted by the sender and receiver.By combining the rapid changeability and randomness of DMA, the randomness of signal source and the randomness of natural channel, a composite channel was constructed to improve the randomness of the key source. In addition, the channel estimation was transfered overhead from the terminal to the base station, which effectively reduced the overhead and delay of the communication system, and was suitable for IoT scenarios with asymmetric resources and lightweight equipment.Simulation results show that the proposed method can effectively improve the key generation rate in quasi-static scenarios, and the generated physical layer key has passed the NIST test.…”

Elliptic curve ElGamal encryption based location privacy-preserving scheme by Huibin LAI, Li XU, Yali ZENG, Rui ZHU

    Published 2020-06-01
“…An elliptic curve ElGamal encryption based location privacy-preserving scheme was proposed to address the location privacy problem of secondary users in collaborative spectrum sensing.Firstly, secondary users encrypted the original sensing reports using the ElGamal public key techniques on the elliptic curve and sent them to the trusted property authority.Secondly, the trusted property authority partially decrypted and randomized sensing reports and then sent the randomized sensing reports to the fusion center.Thirdly, the fusion center finally decrypted and got the original sensing reports. Finally, security of the scheme was analyzed.According to the scheme, the encryption method of sensing reports was based on public key cryptography on elliptic curve. And the trusted property authority randomized encrypted sensing reports. Thus the location privacy of secondary users can be protected.Meanwhile, this scheme effectively reduces communication and storage cost, compared with other schemes. In addition, this scheme also has fault tolerant and dynamic mechanism, which increases the practicability and feasibility.…”

Software diversification method based on binary rewriting by Benwei HE, Yunfei GUO, Yawen WANG, Qingfeng WANG, Hongchao HU

    Published 2023-04-01
“…Software diversity is an effective defense against code-reuse attacks, but most existing software diversification technologies are based on source code.Obtaining program source code may be difficult, while binary files are challenging to disassemble accurately and distinguish between code pointers and data constants. This makes binary file diversification difficult to generate high levels of randomization entropy, and easily compromised by attackers. To overcome these challenges, a binary file oriented software diversification method was proposed based on static binary rewriting technology, namely instruction offset randomization. This method inserted NOP instructions of varying byte lengths before program instructions with a certain probability, reducing the number of unintended gadgets in the program and randomly offsetting the original instruction address. This disrupts the program’s original memory layout and increases the cost of code-reuse attacks. At the same time, an optimization strategy based on hot code was designed for this method. The execution times of basic blocks in binary files were obtained by dynamic pile insertion, so as to adjust the NOP instruction insertion probability in each basic block. The higher the execution frequency, the fewer NOP instructions were inserted into the basic block, which can ensure lower performance overhead and produce higher randomization entropy. In the experimental part, the SPEC benchmark program was used to test the optimized method from the aspects of performance overhead, gadget survival rate and file size. The results show that a 15% insertion probability achieves the best effect, with an average gadget survival rate of less than 1.49%, increasing attackers’ difficulty in reusing the same gadget attack chain.Furthermore, only a 4.1% operation overhead and 7.7% space overhead are added, maintaining high levels of security.…”
