Phenotypic detection of carbapenem-resistant Enterobacterales in clinical isolates at a tertiary care hospital
Published 2024-01-01“…The maximum carbapenem resistance was seen in the age group of 16–45 years and the most number of CRE isolates were from ICUs. Phenotypic test results indicated that 54.28% (38/70) of isolates were positive for carbapenemase production by either of the phenotypic methods. …”

A continuous phenotype space model of RNA virus evolution within a host
Published 2014-02-01“…Due to their very high replication and mutation rates, RNA virusescan serve as an excellent testing model for verifying hypothesis andaddressing questions in evolutionary biology. In this paper, we suggest a simple deterministic mathematical modelof the within-host viral dynamics, where a possibility for random mutations incorporates. This model assumes a continuous distribution of viral strainsin a one-dimensional phenotype space where random mutations aremodelled by Brownian motion (that is, by diffusion).Numerical simulations show that randommutations combined with competition for a resource result in evolutiontowards higher Darwinian fitness: a stable pulse traveling waveof evolution, moving towards higher levels of fitness,is formed in the phenotype space. The advantage of this model, compared with the previously constructedmodels, is that this model is mechanistic and is based on commonlyaccepted model of virus dynamics within a host, and thus it allowsan incorporation of features of the real-life host-virus system such as immuneresponse, antiviral therapy, etc.…”

Species evolution: cryptic species and phenotypic noise with a particular focus on fungal systematics
Published 2025-02-01“…The evolution of a species can be understood in the context of two major concepts—the cryptic species concept and the phenotypic noise concept. The former represents morphologically indistinguishable but genetically distinct evolutionary lineages, while the latter represents the phenotypic variations of an isogenic population. …”

Oxidized LDL Induces Alternative Macrophage Phenotype through Activation of CD36 and PAFR
Published 2013-01-01“…Since PAFR in macrophages is associated with suppressor function, we examined the effect of oxLDL on macrophage phenotype. It was found that the presence of oxLDL during macrophage differentiation induced high mRNA levels to IL-10, mannose receptor, PPARγ and arginase-1 and low levels of IL-12 and iNOS. …”

Better understanding the phenotypic effects of drugs through shared targets in genetic disease networks
Published 2025-01-01“…Gaining traction in this field is the use of disease data linking genes with pathological phenotypes and combining this with drugtarget interaction data.MethodsWe introduce methodology to associate drugs with effects, both intended and adverse, using a tripartite network approach that combines drug-target and target-phenotype data, in which targets can be represented as proteins and protein domains.ResultsWe were able to detect associations for over 140,000 ChEMBL drugs and 3,800 phenotypes, represented as Human Phenotype Ontology (HPO) terms. …”
