Rule and perception based MAC protocol for UAN by Chong LI, Xiujuan DU, Lijuan WANG, Xiaojing TIAN

    Published 2022-02-01
“…Aiming at the problem of low channel utilization and network throughput resulted by RTS/CTS handshakes in the conventional media access control (MAC) protocol for underwater acoustic network (UAN), a rule and perception based (RP-MAC) MAC protocol was proposed to avoid packet collision in underwater acoustic networks.Only when the designated receiving node was neither in sending nor receiving state, and other neighboring nodes were not in receiving state, a sending node could send one or more packets to the receiving node, which avoided the interaction of handshake control packets while reducing collision and retransmission. The status of the neighbor nodes was sensed according to the channel rules and the fields from the packets overheard.Theoretical analysis and simulation experiments show that the performance of RP-MAC protocol outperforms the Slotted FAMA and R-MAC protocol in terms of throughput and energy-consumption.…”

Grammatical aspect in Polish and the perception of event duration by Wojciech Milczarski

    Published 2021-12-01
“…Earlier research showed that the progressive aspect in Dutch extends duration estimations for short events and shortens the perception of inherently medium and long events. In the study reported here, we conducted an experiment examining whether the same effect can be observed in Polish, a language with a morphologically realised perfective vs. imperfective distinction. …”

Baseline dependent differences in the perception of changes in visuomotor delay by Gesche Vigh, Gesche Vigh, Jakub Limanowski, Jakub Limanowski

    Published 2025-01-01
“…One important open question is whether the Weber-Fechner Laws hold in the domain of visuomotor delay; i.e., whether the perception of changes in visuomotor delay depends on the amount of delay already present during movement.MethodsTo address this, we developed a virtual reality based, continuous hand movement task, during which participants had to detect changes in visuomotor mapping (delay): Participants (N = 40) performed continuous, auditory-paced grasping movements, which were measured with a data glove and transmitted to a virtual hand model. …”
