A theory of nonlinear wave loading on offshore structures
Published 1981-01-01“…The study has then been applied to calculate the linear and the nonlinear wave loadings on a large vertical cylinder partially immersed in an ocean of arbitrary uniform depth. All the linear and nonlinear forces exerting on the cylinder are determined explicitly. …”

Atmospheric circulation simulations in the present and Future climate associated with temperature drop in Southeastern south America
Published 2017-12-01“…The atmospheric features associated with extreme cold events, identified by the temperature drop in the winter, in three regions of southeastern South America are analyzed with reanalysis data from NCEP / NCAR as well as simulations of the coupled ocean-atmosphere HadCM3 and GFDL-CM2.0 models for the present and CMIP3 A2 future scenario. …”

Temporal and spatial co-occurrence of pacific oyster mortality and increased planktonic Vibrio abundance
Published 2025-02-01“…Our findings provide evidence for the role of Vibrio in oyster mortality events and indicate that ocean warming and elevated phytoplankton may stimulate putative pathogens in the Vibrio genus.…”

Volcanically forced Madden–Julian oscillation triggers the immediate onset of El Niño
Published 2025-02-01“…Because the land areas surrounding the Indo-Pacific warm pool dry more quickly after a volcanic eruption, the background moisture distribution becomes more favorable for the MJO to propagate eastward from the Indian Ocean into the Pacific. This increases the likelihood of ensemble members having stronger MJO activity in the western Pacific by about 35% compared to non-volcanic years, which subsequently increases the frequency of westerly wind bursts by about 76%, ultimately enhancing the probability of the onset of an El Niño by about 98% following major volcanic eruptions.…”

Wind Turbine Clutter Mitigation in Coastal UHF Radar
Published 2014-01-01“…Coastal UHF radar provides a unique capability to measure the sea surface dynamic parameters and detect small moving targets, by exploiting the low energy loss of electromagnetic waves propagating along the salty and good conducting ocean surface. It could compensate the blind zone of HF surface wave radar at close range and reach further distance than microwave radars. …”
