Deciphering the interactome of Ataxin-2 and TDP-43 in iPSC-derived neurons for potential ALS targets. by Yuan Tian, Nicolette Heinsinger, Yinghui Hu, U-Ming Lim, Yi Wang, Aaron Zefrin Fernandis, Sophie Parmentier-Batteur, Becky Klein, Jason M Uslaner, Sean M Smith

    Published 2024-01-01
“…Co-immunoprecipitation demonstrated that Ataxin-2 and TDP-43 interact, that their interaction is mediated through the RNA recognition motif (RRM) of TDP-43, and knocking down Ataxin-2 or mutating the RRM domains rescued TDP-43 toxicity in an iPSC-derived neuronal model with TDP-43 overexpression. To decipher the Ataxin-2 and TDP-43 interactome, we used co-immunoprecipitation followed by mass spectrometry to identify proteins that interacted with Ataxin-2 and TDP-43 under conditions of endogenous or overexpressed TDP-43 in iPSC-derived neurons. …”

The Dissemination of Rift Valley Fever Virus to the Eye and Sensory Neurons of Zebrafish Larvae Is Stat1-Dependent by Sebastiaan ter Horst, Aleksandra Siekierska, Ann-Sofie De Meulemeester, Arno Cuvry, Laura Cools, Johan Neyts, Peter de Witte, Joana Rocha-Pereira

    Published 2025-01-01
“…Thus, RVFV-induced blindness likely occurs due to direct damage to the eye and peripheral neurons, rather than the brain. Treatment with the JAK-inhibitor ruxolitinib, as well as knockout of <i>stat1a</i> but not <i>stat1b</i>, enhanced RVFV replication to ~6 log10 viral RNA copies/larva and ultra-bright livers, although without dissemination to sensory neurons or the eye, thereby confirming the critical role of <i>stat1</i> in RVFV pathogenesis.…”

Intrathecal Resiniferatoxin Modulates TRPV1 in DRG Neurons and Reduces TNF-Induced Pain-Related Behavior by M. Leo, M. Schulte, L.-I. Schmitt, M. Schäfers, C. Kleinschnitz, T. Hagenacker

    Published 2017-01-01
“…Transient receptor potential vanilloid-1 (TRPV1) is a nonselective cation channel, predominantly expressed in sensory neurons. TRPV1 is known to play an important role in the pathogenesis of inflammatory and neuropathic pain states. …”

Dexmedetomidine Inhibits Voltage-Gated Sodium Channels via α2-Adrenoceptors in Trigeminal Ganglion Neurons by Sang-Taek Im, Youn Yi Jo, Gayoung Han, Hyun Jung Jo, Yong Ho Kim, Chul-Kyu Park

    Published 2018-01-01
“…Two types of voltage-gated sodium channels, Nav1.7 and Nav1.8, as well as α2-adrenoceptors are expressed in primary sensory neurons of the trigeminal ganglion (TG). Using whole-cell patch-clamp recordings, we investigated the effects of dexmedetomidine on voltage-gated sodium channel currents (INa) via α2-adrenoceptors in dissociated, small-sized TG neurons. …”

Potential Protection of Coeloglossum viride var. Bracteatum Extract against Oxidative Stress in Rat Cortical Neurons by Zhe Guo, Rui-Yuan Pan, Xiao-Yan Qin

    Published 2013-01-01
“…The present study explored the neuroprotective effect of Coeloglossum viride var. bracteatum extract (CE) against oxidative stress in rat cortical neurons. The results demonstrated that administration of CE inhibited hydrogen peroxide-induced neurotoxicity tested by MTT, LDH release, and TUNEL assays. …”
