Nitrite Cycling in Warming Arctic and Subarctic Waters
Published 2022-06-01“…Abstract The primary nitrite (NO2−) maximum (PNM) is a typical feature of oceanic nitrogen (N) cycle, yet its characterization in the world ocean remains a gap. By combining the natural abundance of NO2− isotopes with geochemical model, we report for the first time that the formation of Arctic and subarctic PNMs is dominated by ammonia oxidation, while the oxidation of NO2− is the main sink. …”

Generation of slow phase-locked oscillation and variability of the interspike intervals in globally coupled neuronal oscillators
Published 2013-08-01“…To elucidate how a biological rhythm is regulated, the extended (three-dimensional) Bonhoeffer-van der Pol or FitzHugh-Nagumo equations are employed toinvestigate the dynamics of a population of neuronal oscillators globally coupled through a common buffer (mean field).Interesting phenomena, such as extraordinarily slow phase-locked oscillations (compared to the natural period of each neuronal oscillator)and the death of all oscillations, are observed. We demonstrate that the slow synchronization is due mainly to the existence of ``fast" oscillators.Additionally, we examine the effect of noise on the synchronization and variability of the interspike intervals.Peculiar phenomena, such as noise-induced acceleration and deceleration, are observed. The results herein suggest that very small noise may significantly influence a biological rhythm.…”

Optimal approximation model of autocorrelation function of digital image
Published 2011-01-01“…Non-stationary stochastic signal was divided into piecewise stationary stochastic signal, and reflecting the sig-nal’s characteristics by autocorrelation function of the piecewise stationary stochastic signal.Generally, the autocorrela-tion function was the base of selecting signal base for signal representation. For expressing non-stationary stochastic sig-nal in a precise and effective way, based on the analysis of the natural characteristics of ARMA model and Markov proc-ess,a kind of multi-parameter estimation model of autocorrelation function for piecewise stationary stochastic process was proposed. The computational complexity was reduced, and the approximation effect was improved.Furthermore, the multi-parameter estimation model could also be adapted to the complex non-stationary stochastic signal,The computer simulation demonstrates that the approximation error was decreased significantly.…”

New frontiers of temporary buildings. Passive housing modules
Published 2018-12-01“…The purpose of this paper is to examine the characteristics of temporary buildings created to flexibly respond to the needs and necessities of people involved in natural disasters or in hardship cases. Architecture technology allows an industrialized modular low-cost building system, in case of an emergency – the ease and speed of the assembling process, flexibility, and immediate use – and the conditions of temporality: to create a light, removable, transportable, transformable, reusable and, at the same time, durable and adaptable to the territory’s climate and morphology building. …”
