Mixing of natural and urban dust along the Wasatch Front of northern Utah, USA
Published 2025-01-01“…This urban-influenced dust is transported downwind, where it may contribute to elevated levels of cadmium, copper, and zinc in streams of downwind mountain watersheds. These findings underscore the far-reaching impact of urban dust on critical ecosystems and highlight the need for integrated management strategies to mitigate dust-related environmental consequences.…”

Application of HEC-HMS Model in Flood Simulation of Qingshan River Basin
Published 2021-01-01“…It is more and more important to realize the fast simulation of flood process in the early warning of mountain flood disaster in small and medium river basins. This paper builds a distributed hydrological model for Qingshan River Basin by combining HEC-HMS model with GIS technology, extracts the characteristics of river system and conducts gridding on small basin based on DEM data, calculates the surface runoff by initial and constant loss method and Snyder unit hydrograph method, simulates the process of base flow recession through nonlinear boussinesq method, conducts the channel routing by Muskingum method, calibrates the parameters with the past 5 measured flood data,as well as verifies the prediction results by 13 floods. The simulation results show that during the verification period, the errors of peak discharge are all within 20%,the time difference for peaks is less than 3 h,the certainty coefficient is less than 0.7 for only 2 floods, and above 0.7 for others. The results show that with high accuracy and stability, the HEC-HMS model for flood simulation in this river basin conforms to the requirements of the flood forecast, which is of great application value for the exploration of small basin flood simulation and analysis.…”

Construction of water injection seepage model for coal body and microscopic dominant influence law
Published 2025-02-01“…Furthermore, an online CT scanning loading percolation system was used to reconstruct three-dimensional visualizations of effective microfracture structures in coal bodies from five mines with varying metamorphic degrees: Inner Mongolia, Tongfuxin, Meihuajing, Dahuang Mountain, and Ciyaogou. The fractal theory was applied to extract parameters for calculating effective connected pores and fractures. …”

Study on Effects of Reservoir Construction on Hydrological Regime of Downstream River Morphology Transition Area
Published 2020-01-01“…The resultsshow that the combination of the one-dimensional and two-dimensional hydrodynamic calculationmodel can objectively reflect the hydrodynamic changes in the transition area from the narrow anddeep mountain river channels at the upper reach to the broad, shallow and many-branch plain riverchannels at the lower reach, which is suitable for the study on the changes of hydrological regimein this area.Due to the storage and operation of the hot spring reservoir, in August of the floodseason, the flow of river channel at the lower reach of reservoir reduces significantly, with waterdepth, water width, and flow rate of river section decreasing obviously. …”
