“…Bu yazının amacı, Avrupa kültürünün Aydınlanma’dan sonraki dünyagörüşü üzerinde belirleyici etkileri olan tarih metafiziklerinin, siyasal birer teolojiylesonlanmalarına olanak tanıyacak ölçüde dinsel önkabulleri de içinde barındırdığıdüşüncesini temellendirmektir. Modern Avrupa kültürü her ne kadarlaikliği vurgulamış ve Hıristiyan dogmalarından çeşitli nedenlerle kurtulmayaçabalamışsa da, bu kültürün, Berdyaev’in de belirttiği gibi, Hıristiyanlık’la ortakbir noktası vardır: Hem Hıristiyanlık hem de modern Avrupa kültürü, insan yaşamınınve dünyanın açıklanmasında ve temellendirilmesinde tarihe dayanmaktadır.Bunun bir sonucu olarak, Hıristiyanlık, Aydınlanma öncesinde, sırasında vesonrasında ciddi bir dönüşümden geçerek, Avrupa burjuvazisinin elindeki siyasigüç sayesinde modern toplumlara yeni birer “din” olarak dayatılan ideolojilerbiçimine bürünmüşlerdir.…”
