Numerical Simulation of the Effect of Long-Term Reclamation on the Flow and Sediment Concentration in Binhai Port,Yancheng by ZHU Siyu, LU Dan

    Published 2021-01-01
“…Binhai Port is located at the most obvious corrosive coastline of the abandoned Yellow River delta in the north of Jiangsu Province, where the near-shore wave and flow dynamic is strong, the sediment movement is relatively active, the underwater terrain is complex and the slope erosion is obvious.Based on the measured hydrological and sediment data and a two-dimensional mathematical model for wave, tidal current and sediment, this paper quantitatively analyzes the influence of the long-term reclamation project on the flow and sediment concentration in the study area and the surrounding estuary, and emphatically discusses the back silting characteristics and deposition causes of the 300 000-ton channel during normal and rough weather. The results show that:After the implementation of the reclamation project, the flow and sediment characteristics of the study area don't change in a large scale, and mainly the flow and sediment near the project site is affected. The sediment is deposited after the channel dredging and a sediment deposit centered at the area with peak sediment concentration is formed in the channel, with decreasing deposition thickness to the port and outer sea channel.During rough weather, the maximum deposition thickness can reach 8~24 times of that in normal weather, but it is less than 0.2 m/d and there is no sudden silting and navigation blocking.…”

Hydrodynamic Characteristics and Riverbed Evolution Analysis of the Bazizui Straight Branching Channel in Xinjiang River Based on MIKE21 by HU Kelong, JI Yong, CEN Yixing, ZHONG Heye, ZHANG Yue, ZHANG Lichen, WANG Yin, ZHANG Jie

    Published 2023-01-01
“…To clarify the hydrodynamic characteristics and riverbed evolution trend of the branching channel bank in the Bazizui shipping section of Xinjiang River, this paper builds the two-dimensional mathematical model of the research water area by MIKE21 hydrodynamic module. It employs the hydrological data of Meigang Station to calibrate the model and verify the accuracy. On this basis, the hydrodynamic characteristics in different hydrological periods of the straight branching channel of Xinjiang River are analyzed, and the evolution trend of the branching channel section is clarified. The results show that the left branch is the main water branch, and the diversion ratio of the diversion channel decreases with the increase in flow. The velocity of flow is irregularly distributed and varies significantly between regions. The main stream appears in the left branch of the diversion section, and the maximum flow velocity is confirmed in the narrow part. The water level decreases uniformly from the diverging area to the confluence area. The overall stability of river pattern development and evolution is good, and the evolution of the water channel is mainly reflected in the local changes of riverbed scouring and silting in branching channels. The model can effectively simulate the diversion ratio and water level variation of the branching channel, which can provide a scientific basis for the study of river safety protection and navigation stability.…”

Analysis and Establishment of the Isothermal Elastohydrodynamic Lubrication Model of the Cylindrical Gear with Arcuate Tooth Trace by Zhou Bo, Hou Li, Wei Yongqiao, Li Bo

    Published 2015-01-01
“…The cylindrical gear with arcuate tooth trace has advantages of high bearing capacity, high contact strength and steady transmission, etc. But there are also failure modes such as the wear of tooth surface, pitting and scuffing when it drives,it is mainly because of the bad lubricating condition. So ensuring that it is always in good lubricity would be critical. After analyzing the meshing contact process of cylindrical gears with arcuate tooth trace, the contact model of gears is simplified.Based on the elastohydrodynamic lubrication theory, the physical and mathematical model of isothermal elastohydrodynamic lubrication for the cylindrical gear with arcuate tooth trace are established.Through the direct iterative method and Fortran procedure, the numerical solution of the model is solved and the characteristic curves of oil film are got.The influences that entrainment velocity, load and viscidity bring to lubrication characters of the cylindrical gear with arcuate tooth trace are analyzed and compared. The results show the entrainment velocity is the most important cause for the oil film thickness, the viscidity has important influences both on the oil film pressure and thickness, and the load influences less relative to other two factors.Besides, using the oil film thickness ratio, the lubrication state of gears could be estimated, which helps keeping gears approach the elastohydrodynamic lubrication state when designing.…”
