Mesenchymal Stem Cells in Restoration of Fertility at Experimental Pelvic Inflammatory Disease
Published 2017-01-01“…Based on this, we investigated the effect of intravenous administration of cryopreserved mesenchymal stem cells (cMSCs) of bone marrow on experimental chronic inflammation of the ovaries. The paper shows that on the 21st day after cMSC therapy, leukocyte infiltration of ovaries was slightly relative to the control group without treatment, and the ratio of developing and atretic follicles in the animals with cMSC injection dramatically increased, while in the control, it still remained on the side of atretic forms. …”

Diagnosis and treatment of nervous system diseases at the beginning of the 19th century in Vilnius university clinics
Published 2018-12-01“…In Vilnius, as in other European clinics, the causes of the diseases were sought in the internal organs (the influence of the solidism theory), but autopsy findings usually revealed the brain and spinal cord congestion with blood, confirming the inflammation of the nervous system (or humoralism) theory. …”

The Impact of PPARγ Genetic Variants on IBD Susceptibility and IBD Disease Course
Published 2012-01-01“…PPARγ is a nuclear receptor that regulates numerous pathways including cytokine expression and immune responses and plays an important role in controlling colon inflammation. We aimed at determining the occurring PPARγ SNPs, at predicting the haplotypes, and at determining the frequency outcome in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) patients in comparison with healthy controls. …”

Light Chain Escape in 3 Cases: Evidence of Intraclonal Heterogeneity in Multiple Myeloma from a Single Institution in Poland
Published 2015-01-01“…We report three cases of light chain escape (LCE) at a single institution in Poland, including an interesting case of biclonal monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance (MGUS) that satisfied the criteria for progression to light chain multiple myeloma (LCMM) with a rapid rise in serum free light chain (FLC) levels, following steroidal treatment for simultaneous temporal artery inflammation and polymyalgia rheumatica (PMR). In the three cases discussed, progression of the disease by light chain escape was associated with rapid and severe renal impairment, highlighting the necessity for prompt detection of such free light chain-only producing clones in order to prevent the possible development of irreversible end-organ damage. …”

Current Status of the Immunomodulation and Immunomediated Therapeutic Strategies for Multiple Sclerosis
Published 2012-01-01“…Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an autoimmune disease of the central nervous system, and CD4+ T cells form the core immunopathogenic cascade leading to chronic inflammation. Traditionally, Th1 cells (interferon-γ-producing CD4+ T cells) driven by interleukin 12 (IL12) were considered to be the encephalitogenic T cells in MS and experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE), an animal model of MS. …”
