Assessment framework to predict sensitivity of marine calcifiers to ocean alkalinity enhancement – identification of biological thresholds and importance of precautionary principle...
Published 2025-01-01“…For the negatively impacted species, biological thresholds, which were based on 50 % reduction of calcification rate, were in the range of 50 to 500 <span class="inline-formula">µ</span>mol kg<span class="inline-formula">−1</span> NaOH addition. Thus, we emphasize the importance of including much lower additions of alkalinity in experimental trials to realistically evaluate in situ biological responses. …”

Fálétí’s Philosophical Sensibility
Published 2021-12-01“…While Fágúnwà could not resist the influence of Christianity, and especially the allegorical motif of the journey in which humans encounter spiritual challenges (which John Bunyan’s Pilgrim Progress made popular), Fálétí is fundamentally a cultural connoisseur; a writer with a most intimate and dynamic understanding of the Yorùbá condition, especially in its conjunction with the political and sociocultural contexts of contemporary Nigeria. And we have Ọlátúndé Ọlátúnjí to thank for the deep exploration and interrogation of the fundamental poetic and literary nuances that Fálétí has left for us. …”

Neuroimaging features for cognitive fatigue and its recovery with VR intervention: An EEG microstates analysis
Published 2025-02-01“…Natural scene exposure is a promising intervention for relieving cognitive fatigue, but the efficacy of virtual reality (VR) simulated natural scene exposure is unclear. We aimed to investigate the effect of VR natural scene on cognitive fatigue and further explored its underlying neurophysiological alterations with electroencephalogram (EEG) microstates analysis. …”

Inequity and vulnerability in Latin American Indigenous and non-Indigenous populations with rheumatic diseases: a syndemic approach
Published 2023-03-01“…Twenty clusters were identified in the Indigenous population and 17 in the non-Indigenous population. Results The variables associated with RMD among Indigenous populations were rurality, public health system, high joint biomechanical stress, greater pain, disability and alcoholism; and among non-Indigenous people they were being a woman, urban origin, older age, private health system, joint biomechanical stress, greater pain and disability. We identified different health inequities among patients with RMD (ie, lower educational attainment, more comorbidities), associated with factors such as Indigenous self-identification and rural residence. Conclusions A syndemic approach enables us to identify health inequities in RMD, as shown by higher prevalence of comorbidities, disability and socioeconomic factors like lower educational attainment. …”

IFNβ drives ferroptosis through elevating TRIM22 and promotes the cytotoxicity of RSL3
Published 2025-02-01“…HT1080 cells, three-dimensional (3D) spheroids, and the xenograft mouse models were treated with IFNβ, RSL3, or IFNβ combination with RSL3 to analyze whether IFNβ enhances RSL3-induced ferroptosis.ResultsHere, we found that IFNβ could promote intracellular Fe2+ and lipid peroxidation levels, and decrease GSH levels in tumor cells. …”
