Characterizing a complex buildup in the Pearl River Mouth Basin of the northern South China Sea: an interplay of carbonates and igneous rocks
Published 2025-01-01“…The evolution of the buildup is divided into three stages: (1) volcanic eruptions and carbonates development, (2) overflowing magma and reef shoal deposits, and (3) reef-bank deposition accompanied by igneous intrusion. We propose that volcanic rocks can be distinguished from carbonates by the temporal and spatial coupling of typical features: (a) surface volcanic rocks and subsurface intrusive bodies are inseparable, with igneous rocks identifiable through faults and volcanic conduits; (b) carbonates typically display symmetrical structures on both sides of the highland and exhibit better stratification away from igneous activity; (c) carbonates generally show a convex clinoform and steep slope at the platform margin, while volcanic mounds exhibit concave gentle slopes. …”

Synthetic inhibition of SREBP2 and the mevalonate pathway blocks rhabdomyosarcoma tumor growth in vitro and in vivo and promotes chemosensitization
Published 2025-02-01“…Fatostatin and lovastatin produced rapid attenuation of Erk1/2 and Akt1 signaling in RMS lines, and oral administration of lovastatin reduced tumor mass growth of xenografted RD cells in NOD/SCID mice. Finally, we found that forced Akt1 activation in RD cells was sufficient to drive SREBP2, HMGCR and SQLE protein expression, promoting increased susceptibility to MVP inhibitors. …”

Exogenous organic acids promoted phytoremediation by Hydrangea macrophylla in cadmium‑contaminated soil
Published 2025-01-01“…Nevertheless, TF values were all less than 1. We posit that using H. macrophylla and organic acids could reduce the Cd bioavailability in the soil mainly through rhizosphere immobilization and plant absorption. …”

Constructing the constitutively active ribosomal protein S6 kinase 2 from Arabidopsis thaliana (AtRPS6K2) and testing its activity in vitro
Published 2020-05-01“…In Arabidopsis thaliana, AtRPS6 is phosphorylated by kinase AtRPS6K2, which should in turn be phosphorylated by upper level kinases (AtPDK1 – at serine (S) 296, AtTOR – at threonine (T) 455 and S437) for full activation. We have cloned AtRPS6K2 cDNA gene and carried out in vitro mutagenesis replacing codons encoding S296, S437 and T455 by triplets of phosphomimetic glutamic acid (E). …”

Wildfire danger under changing climates in the southern Great Plains throughout the 21st century
Published 2025-01-01“…Therefore, our objectives were to (1) simulate the spatial and temporal dynamics of the Burning Index (BI), a widely used fire danger index in the National Fire Danger Rating System (NFDRS), and high fire danger days based on CMIP5 climate simulations, comparing the 1986–2005 historical period and 2006–2099 under two climate change scenarios (RCP4.5 and RCP8.5), and (2) identify important weather variables driving projected BI changes. We found that the BI would increase at 0.1 × 10 ft per decade under RCP4.5 and 0.4 × 10 ft per decade under RCP8.5. …”
