Association between polypharmacy and falls in older adults: a longitudinal study from England
Published 2017-10-01“…Using ≥4 drugs threshold the rate of falls was 18% higher in people with polypharmacy compared with people without (adjusted IRR 1.18, 95% CI 1.08 to 1.28), whereas using ≥10 drugs threshold polypharmacy was associated with a 50% higher rate of falls (adjusted IRR 1.50, 95% CI 1.34 to 1.67).Conclusions We found almost one-third of the total population using five or more drugs, which was significantly associated with 21% increased rate of falls over a 2-year period. …”

Impact of Immunotherapies on SARS-CoV-2-Infections and Other Respiratory Tract Infections during the COVID-19 Winter Season in IBD Patients
Published 2022-01-01“…This study is focused on the question whether patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) who receive immunotherapies are more vulnerable to respiratory tract infections and SARS-CoV-2 infections in comparison to medical staff, as a cohort with an increased infection risk, and to the general population in a COVID-19 hotspot. Methods. We analysed data regarding respiratory tract infections that were collected in our IBD registry and compared them with corresponding data from medical employees in our associated Isarklinikum hospital and from the healthy general population in Munich, Germany, over the same time frame in April and June 2020. …”

Exosomal PVRL4 Promotes Lung Adenocarcinoma Progression by Enhancing the Generation of Myeloid‐Derived Suppressor Cell‐Secreted TGF‐β1
Published 2025-01-01“…Results LUAD tissues and cells showed high PVRL4 expression, and PVRL4 deficiency suppressed LUAD cell proliferation, invasion, migration, and induced cell apoptosis in vitro, and impeded LUAD growth in vivo. Thereafter, we found that PVRL4 was packaged into exosomes in LUAD cells, and could be transferred into PBMCs to promote MDSC induction and the expression of MDSC‐secreted TGF‐β1. …”
