Sword of Heaven : Political Theology in Measure for Measure by Richard Wilson

    Published 2001-01-01
“…It was Middleton’s tampering with Shakespeare’s text that transformed it from a drama of demonic substitution, focused on the ‘outward-sainted deputy’ [3.1.93] into an allegory of divine sovereignty, idealizing the monarch as a deus ex machina. If Shakespeare editions have been slow to absorb the news from Vienna that the schizophrenia of Measure for Measure is a result not of authorial despair, but of its having been constructed by two dramatists of distinct generations and mentalities, working some sixteen years apart, they have nonetheless always registered resistance in the play to this totalitarian project of putting power on display.…”

Céréales, pains, levains et fours dans la région d'El Hoceima by Dominique Caubet, Yildiz Aumeeruddy-Thomas

    Published 2017-10-01
“…These ethnobotanical and linguistic studies in the Rif open the way to better understanding this knowledge, through the expression of language and the nature of exchanges between communities speaking different dialects. The Rif is an ideal situation for both linguists and ethnobotanists to study exchange situations, language contacts and food techniques, on the borders between Arabic-speaking and Berber-speaking groups. On the ethnobotanical level, this work allowed us to identify the operating chains of cereal processing into flour, bread and cooking methods, including a very rich lexicon explaining the importance of these products for the inhabitants of the two villages studied. …”

Automatic modulation recognition algorithm for MQAM signal by Huadi ZHANG, Huaxun LOU

    Published 2019-08-01
“…An automatic modulation recognition algorithm for MQAM signal was proposed.Firstly, the feature parameter F based on the fourth order cumulants was constructed to classify the square QAM and the cross QAM.Secondly, the compactness of zero center normalized instantaneous amplitude was calculated to identify the 16QAM from the square QAM.Thirdly, the baud rate was estimated by frequency spectrum of amplitude square, and timing was synchronized to delete the ISI and resume the relatively ideal constellations. And aiming at the 32QAM and the 128QAM,two different clustering radii were set,and clustering point density was got respectively by the subtractive clustering algorithm, and then the 32QAM and the 128QAM was classified depending on the difference of density value. In the same way,the 64QAM and the 256QAM were classified. The proposed algorithm can recognize five kinds of QAM signals, including 16QAM signals,32QAM signals,64QAM signals,128QAM signal and 256QAM signal without prior knowledge of frequency and baud rate.Furthermore, the proposed algorithm does not need complex iterative process, which can be applied in practical signal recognition.…”

A voz ou a plenitude do texto. Performance oral, práticas de leitura e identidade literária no Ocidente medieval by Carlos F. Clamote Carreto

    Published 2016-06-01
“…Through the privileged perspective of French Medieval Literature (but not only), these reflections aim to question the evolutionary and cognitive conception of the history of reading refocusing the problem in the irreducible tension – which has partly characterized Western culture – between the letter and the voice, between an idealization of the writing elevated into the magic sphere of the Sacred (or the Law) which places the oral performance under the sign of a corrupted fabula, and a long tradition that, from Plato to Hegel, assimilates logocentrism and phonocentrism. …”
