Analysis of session sequence of stable peers in P2P networks by ZHANG Yu-xiang1, XIAO Chun-jing1, ZHANG Hong-ke2, XU Tao1

    Published 2011-01-01
“…A formal definition of stable peers was presented,a novel method to separate stable peers from all peers and an analysis of the session sequence of stable peers in P2P networks. This study uses the KAD,a P2P file sharing system with several million simultaneous users,as an example and draws some significant conclusions about stable peers: the stable peers is about 0.6% of all peers;the 70% of stable peers possess very long total session time ensured by a large number of sessions, and possess large difference between session time;the 30% of stable peers, whose average session time is 1.8 times of the former, possess long total session time,a small number of sessions and high availability. That these two types of stable peers can play their respective roles in constructing hierarchical P2P networks.…”

Traffic evaluation and modeling for spatio-temporal slicing based VR panoramic video transmission by Shengqian HAN, Han LOU, Junlai WANG

    Published 2022-07-01
“…To characterize the traffic load of virtual reality (VR) panoramic video under the spatio-temporal slicing transmission mode, firstly, based on a real-word VR video viewing dataset, the relationship between the traffic load and the spatio-temporal slicing strategy was evaluated via simulations.Secondly, on the basis of the simulation results, a statistical traffic model was established, describing the interaction between the traffic load and the number of spatial tiles as well as the duration of temporal chunks. Finally, based on the established model, a hierarchical spatial-temporal slicing strategy optimization method was proposed, where the outer layer found the optimal number of spatial tiles by exhaustive searching while the inner layer could directly compute the optimal duration of temporal chunks.Research and simulation results show that the traffic load approximately follows a normal distribution, where the mean and variance are functions of the spatio-temporal slicing strategy.By establishing the traffic model for each type of videos, the optimized slicing strategy based on the established model performs close to the optimal strategy obtained by searching by simulations.…”

Research on cross-domain trustable blockchain based decentralized DNS architecture by Kai LEI, Fangxing SHU, Lei HUANG, Qichao ZHANG

    Published 2020-04-01
“…The domain name system (DNS) is an important internet infrastructure. However, current DNS utilizes centralized hierarchical structure with severe dependence on root server, which causes defects such as the risk of single-point failure and the abuse of central rights.Designing new decentralized DNS mainly focuses on transforming the domain name system from a single trust domain which relies on the center to multiple trust domains with the top-level domain name as the root parallel to each other, but also faces cross-domain credible challenges. To design a cross-domain trusted architecture, the concept of separating control and analysis was adopted, and a dual-blockchain DNS architecture was proposed. At data layer,a novel cross-domain verification was designed based on a one-way accumulator verification scheme, with the time complexity of the verification process O(N) reducing to O(1) nearly. The CDBFT algorithm was proposed by combining the DPoS mechanism and the BFT algorithm, whose average throughput reaches 736 TPS.The theoretical derivation and experimental results have demonstrated the advantages of this new DNS architecture on security, performance, and scalability.…”
