An analytic solution of the non-linear equation ∇2λ(r)=f(λ) and its application to the ion-atmosphere theory of strong electrolytes by S. N. Bagchi

    Published 1981-01-01
“…Recently, the problem had been satisfactorily solved, (see Bagchi [1] [2]) ,by utilizing the concept of ion-atmosphere and generalized Poisson-Boltzmann (PB) equation. Although the original Debye-Hueckel (DH) theory of strong electrolytes [3] cannot be accepted as a consistent theory, neither mathematically nor physically, modified DH theory, in which the exclusion volumes of the ions enter directly into the distribution functions, had been proved to be mathematically consistent. …”

Analysis of Spatiotemporal Variation of Extreme Precipitation Characteristics in Yangtze River Basin by AI Jiaqi, ZHANG Hairong, GU Xuezhi, XIN Qian, CAO Hui, BAO Zhengfeng, YE Lei

    Published 2024-01-01
“…Based on the daily precipitation data of 224 meteorological stations in the Yangtze River Basin for a total of 59 years from 1960 to 2018,the Mann-Kendall trend test (M-K) and linear fitting method are used to analyze the temporal variation characteristics of extreme precipitation in the Yangtze River Basin. The most applicable method for the parameter estimation of generalized extreme value distribution (GEV) in the Yangtze River Basin is determined, and the GEV tail characteristics are analyzed,so as to resolve the spatial characteristics of extreme precipitation in the Yangtze River Basin. The results show that ① the extreme precipitation in the Yangtze River Basin is generally on an upward trend, and the areas with upward-trending extreme precipitation are mainly in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River. The stations with the fastest growth rates of extreme precipitation levels are mainly distributed in the lower reaches of the Yangtze River, and the extreme precipitation levels in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River Basin may further increase in the future. …”

Réflexions sur les variations, dans le temps et dans l'espace, des ressources alimentaires de deux espèces sympatriques de semnopithèques by Claude Marcel Hladik, Annette Hladik

    Published 2018-03-01
“…P. entellus lived in larger groups, moved longer distances in larger territories of 10-15 ha, and fed from more different plant species with higher average food quality The trade-off between living on lower-quality, more abundant foods, entailing diminished movement over small territories, and living on a higher diversity of higher quality foods that require moving further and defending larger territories, was discussed in terms of taste perception, based either on satiety or on immediate sensory reward. More generally, there is a continuum between species with a lower diversity of foods, generally of lower quality, occupying smaller territories, and species with more diverse diets of higher average quality, that require moving longer distances and defending bigger territories.…”
