Attitudes and adherence to changes in nutrition and physical activity following surgery for prostate cancer: a qualitative study
Published 2022-06-01“…Men discussed positive effects associated with brisk walking, such as feeling healthier, but not with nutrition interventions. Conclusions The facilitators to behaviour change suggest that adherence to trial interventions can be supported using well-established behaviour change models. Future studies may benefit from theory-based interventions to support adherence to diet and PA behaviour changes in men diagnosed with PCa.…”

(State) empathy: how context matters
Published 2025-02-01“…Taken together, this review provides a roadmap for enhancing the efficacy of future empathy studies by: (1) outlining the current theoretical and methodological considerations for disentangling trait and state empathy; (2) organizing existing empathy measurement tools to aid researchers in selecting appropriate tools for future studies; (3) describing the interplay between bottom-up processes and top-down control mechanisms for state and trait empathy; and (4) reviewing factors that increase or decrease state empathy to prevent their potential interference and enable a more accurate assessment of empathy.…”

The efficacy of telemedicine interventions on quality of life and depression in individuals with spinal cord injury: a systematic review and meta-analysis
Published 2025-01-01“…The results of the meta-analysis showed that telemedicine interventions significantly improved QoL [Standardized Mean Difference (SMD)=0.72, 95% Confidence Interval (CI) (0.11, 1.32), P=0.02] and reduced depression scores [SMD=-0.18, 95% CI (-0.31, -0.05), P=0.006].ConclusionsTelemedicine interventions are a feasible method to support people with SCI, and can mitigate depression and enhance quality of life. In the future, studies should involve larger sample sizes and extended follow-up periods to validate these findings and to identify the most effective telemedicine interventions for improving the overall health outcomes of individuals with SCI.Systematic Review Registrationhttps://www.crd.york.ac.uk/prospero/, identifier CRD42024508702.…”

Amorphous silica reduces N2O emissions from arable land at the field plot scale
Published 2025-01-01“…Both factors are known to directly and indirectly affect N2O emissions from agroecosystems.MethodsIn this study we conducted a field plot trial on arable soil depleted in ASi and fertilized this soil to its pre-agricultural ASi level.ResultsOur data clearly shows that increasing soil ASi to a pre-agricultural level decreased seasonal N2O emissions by ∼30%.DiscussionThis reduction of N2O emissions due to ASi might be of global relevance as agricultural practice has reduced the ASi content in agricultural soils. If future studies confirm the effect of ASi on N2O emissions, the soil ASi depletion by agricultural practice in the last decades may have led to a substantial increase of N2O emissions.…”
