Analysis of Anti-seepage Effect of Masonry Gravity Dam Repaired by Geomembrane by WANG Libo, CEN Weijun, ZHENG Changhai

    Published 2021-01-01
“…In view of the seepage of the dam body and dam foundation of a dangerous masonry gravity dam, this paper puts forward the seepage repair scheme of laying geomembrane on the dam surface and strengthening the curtain of the dam foundation, calculates the seepage field of the dam under multiple working conditions by the finite element method for obtaining the distribution of the equal head line, the height of the seepage line, the seepage gradient and the seepage flow of the dam,and emphatically demonstrates and analyzes the anti-seepage effect of geomembrane and curtain. The results show that:The geomembrane on the upstream face of the dam can significantly reduce the water head, the position of the dam seepage line after laying with the geomembrane is low,and the seepage flow of the dam is small. The curtain after reinforcement of dam foundation also has a good anti-seepage effect, which effectively limits the seepage of dam foundation, and the seepage gradient of curtain is smaller than the allowable gradient. Therefore,it is reasonable and feasible to use geomembrane combined with curtain reinforcement to repair the seepage of masonry gravity dam.…”

Seepage Analysis of the Earth Dam of a Reservoir Based on Measured Piezometer Data by LIU Fengru, BOLANHAN·Kaiken, ZHAN Damei

    Published 2021-01-01
“…Dam seepage is one of the main factors endangering dam safety, especially for earth-rock dam.Taking the homogeneous earth dam of a reservoir as the example, this paper analyzes the measured piezometer data, and calculates and analyzes the seepage field of the typical dam section under typical stable and transient working conditions by the finite element method for obtaining the pore pressure distribution law,and comparing it with the measured value. The results show that:The distance between piezometer and upstream dam toe is negatively correlated with piezometer water level, and the change trend of piezometer water level is basically consistent with that of reservoir water level; The isopotential line is deflected at the material partition, and dense at the cutoff wall, and the phreatic line and release point below the cutoff wall lower; The measured and theoretical values of phreatic line coincide well, which increase or decrease with the reservoir water level with good correlation; The seepage gradient at the release point under each working condition is less than the allowable gradient, and the seepage stability of the dam meets the requirements.…”

LOCAL RESONANCE ANALYSIS OF CANTILEVER GEAR BOX UNDER GEAR TRANSMISSION EXCITATION by WANG Jue, ZHOU Hang, CHEN DongSheng, ZHANG Rui

    Published 2018-01-01
“…Local resonance is a key reason for fatigue damage of gear housings.Local modals could be excited by vibration caused by gear meshing.Considering the shearer rocker arm for example, the local resonance characteristics of gear housing are analyzed in this paper.Finite element method is used to obtain the natural characteristics of housing and field testing with 0 load is employed to get the vibration acceleration values at the ratings.Local resonance characteristics are obtained by comparing frequency spectrum and natural frequencies.Housing wall thicknesses are selected as design variables to get the influence to natural frequencies. The results show that new frequencies which consist of meshing frequencies of different transmission stages occur and some of them can cause local resonance.Housing wall thicknesses should be changed to avoid local resonance.Excessive strain stress could be caused by local resonance and incur fatigue damage. This research could be a reference for resonance analysis and optimum design.…”
