Annealing dynamics of regular rotor networks: Universality and its breakdown
Published 2025-02-01“…The spin-vector Monte Carlo model is widely used as a benchmark for the classicality of quantum annealers but severely restricts the time evolution. The spin-vector Langevin (SVL) model has been proposed and tested as an alternative, closely reproducing the real-time dynamics of physical quantum annealers such as D-Wave machines in the dissipative regime. …”

An Island Grouping Genetic Algorithm for Fuzzy Partitioning Problems
Published 2014-01-01“…Our approach hinges on a GGA devised for fuzzy clustering by means of a novel encoding of individuals (containing elements and clusters sections), a new fitness function (a superior modification of the Davies Bouldin index), specially tailored crossover and mutation operators, and the use of a scheme based on a local search and a parallelization process, inspired from an island-based model of evolution. The overall performance of our approach has been assessed over a number of synthetic and real fuzzy clustering problems with different objective functions and distance measures, from which it is concluded that the proposed approach shows excellent performance in all cases.…”

A shared tradition: transmitting maritime knowledge in print
Published 2024-12-01“…This article recommends adopting a comparative perspective, since much can be learned by tracing the evolution of these shared practices as they traveled from Spain and Portugal to the Netherlands, France, and England, and back again. …”

From Epiphylogenesis to General Organology
Published 2022-07-01“… Epiphylogenesis is a neologism coined under Stiegler’s anthropotechnical theorisation of the co-evolution of brains and tools. In line with feminist and decolonial theorists like Claire Colebrook and Kathryn Yusoff, it foregrounds that there has never been such a thing as ‘the human’. …”

Capitalism Strikes Back: Why and What Consequences for Social Sciences?
Published 2007-12-01“…First, it is argued that the concept of capitalism is not equivalent to the concept of market economy since it also refers to the study of social relations and dynamic patterns of evolution. Second, the 90s were probably a turning point in the analysis of contemporary societies since the built-in propensity of capitalism to innovate and ability to propel structural change and promote globalization, are easy to recognize. …”

Measurements of global and local spin polarization of Λ and Λ in Au+Au collisions from the RHIC Beam Energy Scan
Published 2025-01-01“…Global polarization measurements of Λ and Λ show no significant differences, offering insights into the late-stage evolution of the magnetic field. The new measurements of the local polarization of Λ perpendicular to the reaction plane (<P2,y>) shows a monotonic increase with decreasing collision energy, while the component along the beam direction (<P2,y>) for both Λ and Λ is small in magnitude with no strong energy dependence. …”

A Collaborative Scheduling Model for the Supply-Hub with Multiple Suppliers and Multiple Manufacturers
Published 2014-01-01“…The results show that our scheduling model with the Supply-Hub is a NP-complete problem, therefore, we propose an auto-adapted differential evolution algorithm to solve this problem. Moreover, we illustrate that the performance of collaborative scheduling by the Supply-Hub is superior to separate decision made by each manufacturer and supplier. …”
