Assessing the Future ODYSEA Satellite Mission for the Estimation of Ocean Surface Currents, Wind Stress, Energy Fluxes, and the Mechanical Coupling Between the Ocean and the Atmosp...
Published 2025-01-01“…Despite the improvement over the current measurements, the estimates of the coupling coefficients between surface currents and wind stress may still have large uncertainties due to the noise inherent in ODYSEA, and also due to measurement capabilities related to wind stress. This study evidences that halving the measurement noise in surface currents would lead to a more accurate estimation of the surface eddy kinetic energy and wind stress coupling coefficients. …”

Optimization and Evaluation of Conditions for Orthotopic Nude Mouse Models of Human Liver Tumor Cells
Published 2024-10-01“…Mice in the low- and medium-concentration groups of HepG2-LUC and the low-concentration group of Hep3B-LUC showed no significant pathological changes, while the other groups exhibited evident liver tumors and hepatocyte lesions. Conclusion For the HepG2-LUC cell line, the recommended injection volume is 50 µL with a cell density of 2.4×107 cells/mL, resuspended with Matrigel, followed by drug administration or prognostic measures on day 7 post-modeling. …”

Sex differences in the relationships between 24-h rest-activity patterns and plasma markers of Alzheimer’s disease pathology
Published 2024-12-01“…Conclusions These findings suggest that the association between disrupted circadian rest-activity patterns and AD pathophysiological processes may be more evident in cognitively unimpaired males. Our results contribute to the precision medicine approach, and they have clinical implications for improved early detection and selection of at-risk individuals to be enrolled in preventive interventions.…”

Exploraciones personales sobre las condiciones precedentes de la violencia sexual en el marco del conflicto armado enColombia
Published 2024-08-01“…As an outcome of this process, the next four approaches of analysis are identified and elaborated, in relation to the precedent conditions of sexual violence in the Colombian armed conflict: structural conditions that make sexual violence possible; warlike masculinities that prevail in gender hierarchy; femininities that are shaped within the context of coercion and gender arrangements, and the impacts of sexual violence inside the Emberá commu[1]nity amidst their insight of health and their connection with the territory. It became evident that in the armed conflict, sexual violence is possible because it is based on gender inequalities already present in the relationships and the communities, which result in a high social tolerance for it. …”

Impact of Bone-Modifying Agents on Post-Bone Metastasis Survival Across Cancer Types
Published 2025-01-01“…Moreover, the Cox proportional hazards model showed that this was particularly evident in cancer types with poor prognosis such as GI cancer (hazard ratio [HR]: 0.62, 95% CI: 0.40–0.95; p < 0.05) and NSCLC without the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) mutation (HR: 0.56, 95% CI: 0.34–0.91; p < 0.05). …”

Chemistry of Hydrothermally Destabilized Rare-Metal and Radioactive Minerals in Deformed A-Type Granite in the Vicinity of Nugrus Shear Zone, South Eastern Desert, Egypt
Published 2024-12-01“…The former comprises the following: (1) altered columbite in the form of three distinct phases of niobates (fergusonite–petscheckite–uranopyrochlore), (2) altered thorite (Ce-bearing and P-F-rich), (3) betafite, (4) altered uranothorite, and (5) sulfides (mainly pyrite). It is evident that the destabilization of magmatic thorite can be distinguished into three stages of hydrothermal alteration, namely low-Zr Ce-bearing thorite (stage I), moderate-Zr Ce-bearing thorite (stage II), and high-Zr U-Nb-Y-bearing thorite (stage III). …”

Comparison of the mid-infrared spectra and prediction equations developed from morning and evening milk samples from twice-a-day milked dairy cows
Published 2025-02-01“…Results from the L2 distance indicated that early lactation morning and evening spectra were more different from each other than when compared in late lactation; no large differences in the L2 distance across different farms and years were evident. The impact of a prediction equation developed from morning spectral data but applied to evening milk spectral data, and vice versa, was investigated. …”

Cerebral microvascular density, blood-brain barrier permeability, and support for neuroinflammation indicate early aging in a Marfan syndrome mouse model
Published 2025-01-01“…Glut1 immunostaining was used to quantify microvascular density, IgG staining to assess BBB permeability, and microglial counts to evaluate neuroinflammation.ResultsUsing Glut1 staining, 6M-MFS mice and 12M-CTRL similarly present decreased microvascular density in the dentate gyrus (DG), cornu ammonis 1 (CA1), and cornu ammonis 3 (CA3) regions of the hippocampus. 6M-MFS mice exhibit increased BBB permeability in the DG and CA3 as evident by Immunoglobulin G (IgG) staining. No differences were detected between 6M and 12M-CTRL mice. 6M-MFS mice show a higher number of microglia in the hippocampus compared to age-matched control mice, a pattern resembling that of 12M-CTRL mice.DiscussionThis study represents the first known investigation into neuropathology in a mouse model of MFS and indicates that the pathophysiology underlying MFS leads to a systemic pre-mature aging phenotype. …”
