Comparison of the mid-infrared spectra and prediction equations developed from morning and evening milk samples from twice-a-day milked dairy cows by M. Frizzarin, E. Hayes, A. Casa, D.P. Berry

    Published 2025-02-01
“…Results from the L2 distance indicated that early lactation morning and evening spectra were more different from each other than when compared in late lactation; no large differences in the L2 distance across different farms and years were evident. The impact of a prediction equation developed from morning spectral data but applied to evening milk spectral data, and vice versa, was investigated. …”

Cerebral microvascular density, blood-brain barrier permeability, and support for neuroinflammation indicate early aging in a Marfan syndrome mouse model by Tala Curry-Koski, Tala Curry-Koski, Liam P. Curtin, Mitra Esfandiarei, Mitra Esfandiarei, Mitra Esfandiarei, Theresa Currier Thomas, Theresa Currier Thomas, Theresa Currier Thomas, Theresa Currier Thomas

    Published 2025-01-01
“…Glut1 immunostaining was used to quantify microvascular density, IgG staining to assess BBB permeability, and microglial counts to evaluate neuroinflammation.ResultsUsing Glut1 staining, 6M-MFS mice and 12M-CTRL similarly present decreased microvascular density in the dentate gyrus (DG), cornu ammonis 1 (CA1), and cornu ammonis 3 (CA3) regions of the hippocampus. 6M-MFS mice exhibit increased BBB permeability in the DG and CA3 as evident by Immunoglobulin G (IgG) staining. No differences were detected between 6M and 12M-CTRL mice. 6M-MFS mice show a higher number of microglia in the hippocampus compared to age-matched control mice, a pattern resembling that of 12M-CTRL mice.DiscussionThis study represents the first known investigation into neuropathology in a mouse model of MFS and indicates that the pathophysiology underlying MFS leads to a systemic pre-mature aging phenotype. …”

Studying the Beneficial Indicators of Intercropping of Safflower (Carthamus tinctorius L.) with Chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.), Lentil (Lens culinaris Medik), and Bitter Vetch (Lath... by Amin Yari, Farzad Mondani, Alireza Bagheri, Hamid Reza Chaghazardi

    Published 2025-09-01
“…Conclusion Regardless of the intercropping arrangements, the results of this study generally showed that the cultivation of chickpea together with safflower compared to lentil and bitter vetch resulted in more benefits in terms of the investigated intercropping indices. This was evident as the chickpea-safflower intercropping achieved the highest LERatio (1.14). …”

Gravitational wave luminosity distance for Starobinsky gravity in viscous cosmological models by Jia-nan Chi, Ya-Bo Wu, Yu Sang, Xue Zhang, Yi-liang Hu, Wen-zhong Liu, Bo-hai Chen

    Published 2025-01-01
“…Concretely, on the basis of the propagation equation of the metric perturbation derived by using transverse-traceless gauge for the linear perturbation of the metric in FRW background, we obtain the analytical expressions of the modified friction term $$\delta (z)$$ δ ( z ) and the ratio $$d_L^{GW}(z)/d_L^{EM}(z)$$ d L GW ( z ) / d L EM ( z ) of GW to electromagnetic (EM) wave luminosity distance, and find that they only depend on the SG model parameter $$\alpha $$ α and the shear viscous coefficient $$\eta $$ η , regardless of the bulk viscous coefficient $$\zeta $$ ζ . Evidently, both of them are affected by $$\alpha $$ α and $$\eta $$ η . …”

Evident in his story is that a poor background neither limits nor determines the factor for the level of success one can attain; rather, it is a starting point, a background to project possibilities of whatever one can become unto, a launching pad into life’s enduring legacy. …”

“…The ‘complexity’ of the Planet’s condition is evident: climate change, according to Amitav Ghosh (2017), is not a danger in itself but rather represents a ‘threat multiplier’ that stresses and amplifies the instability and insecurity already present in some areas of the world, even more so because many industrialised countries have already greatly exceeded their relative ‘biocapacity’, effectively becoming ‘ecological debtors’. …”
