Evaluation of selected agricultural by-products as potential feeds for rearing edible grasshopper, Ruspolia differens (Serville) (Orthoptera: Tettigoniidae) by Amos Acur, Geoffrey Maxwell Malinga, Philip Nyeko

    Published 2024-01-01
“…Utilizing such products as feedstocks can lower the cost of edible insect production and reduce associated environmental pollution. Methods We evaluated the biology (survival, developmental duration, and adult fresh weight) of Ruspolia differens reared on eleven locally available agricultural by-products in Uganda, namely; dry maize cob, waste from a locally brewed finger millet drink, cotton seed cake, soybean hull meal, sunflower cake, pumpkin pulp, peelings of unripe banana, cassava, sweet potato, pineapple and pumpkin. …”

Dissecting Cowpea Genetic Variability under Moisture Stress Conditions and Implications for Drought Tolerance Breeding by Mary Singini, Michael M. Chipeta, Keston Njira, Lameck Fiwa

    Published 2024-01-01
“…The results indicated that the locations (environments) used in the study were distinct and the genotypes evaluated presented differentiated performance in response to environmental variations. Principal component analysis based on the rank correlation matrix and the Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient revealed that most of the drought tolerant indices (MP, GMP, HM, YI, and STI) used were highly correlated with yield under stress and nonstress conditions which suggested that they are ideal for selecting drought tolerant genotypes that are stable and high yielding. …”

Diversity of lithophytic moss species in karst regions in response to elevation gradients. by Yalin Jin, Xiurong Wang

    Published 2023-01-01
“…In Guiyang City, we studied the species diversity of lithophytic mosses and the relationships between species and environmental factors. The results showed that: (1) There were 52 species of bryophytes in 26 genera and 13 families within the study area. …”

Production de Pennisetum sp. et son utilisation pour la culture de Pleurotus ostreatus au Burundi by Prosper Kiyuku, Samuel Bigawa

    Published 2013-09-01
“…We can also deduce that at the environmental level, intensive exploitation of Pennisetum sp. may lead to the protection of cultivated lands from erosion.…”
