Multilayered Sporadic‐E Response to the Annular Solar Eclipse on June 21, 2020 by Jin Wang, Xiaomin Zuo, Yang‐Yi Sun, Tao Yu, Yungang Wang, Lihui Qiu, Tian Mao, XiangXiang Yan, Na Yang, Yifan qi, Jiuhou Lei, Lingfeng Sun, Biqiang Zhao

    Published 2021-03-01
“…In the study, the high‐frequency echoes recorded by the ionosondes at Wuhan (82.4% obscuration), Xiamen (97.8% obscuration), and Nanning (81.1% obscuration) are analyzed to examine the variations in sporadic‐E (Es) during the obscuration over the East China area. The echoes show not only the variations in the typical signal Es layer below 130 km, but for the first time also the multilayered Es at much higher altitudes (130–190 km) during the eclipse. …”

Effect of Pollution Level on Size Distributions and Mixing State of Ambient Black Carbon Particles in an Urban Area during Wintertime by Kangning Li, XiaoFei Wang, Xiaohui Lu, Hong Chen, Xin Yang

    Published 2021-05-01
“…Trajectory analyses of the air masses showed that they usually originated in local areas or on the North China Plain during haze episodes but mostly migrated from the East China Sea during clean episodes. Interestingly, the BC particles in the clean air masses contained V more frequently and generated intense mass spectrum signals for Ca+, suggesting that these particles probably arose from heavy machinery emissions near ports. …”
