Deconstructing esports
Published 2024-12-01“…Building on scholarship that highlights inequities in (competitive) gaming and esports, we identify four ways in which bodies are made relevant in esports: 1) the obscuring of the playing body and establishment of an idealized and normative masculine athletic body; 2) the ‘visibility’ of women's bodies as deviant from the norm; 3) the invisibility (and impossibility) of disabled bodies through design (embodied nature of design of both games and gameplay); and 4) the embodied nature of infrastructural issues that cannot be reduced to materiality. …”

Research on interleaved training for massive MIMO downlink with multi-user zero-forcing precoding
Published 2023-09-01“…To solve the channel acquisition overhead problem of frequency division duplex massive MIMO, for the typical scenario of zero-forcing (ZF) precoding at the base station with users’ quality of service guarantee, a supervisory mechanism for the signal-to-interference-and-noise ratio (SINR) was introduced, and a multi-user antenna-by-antenna interleaved training scheme was designed. Then, considering the additional time overhead introduced by the interleaved training, a multi-user interleaved training scheme based on antenna grouping was designed.Closed-form expressions of the average training length, transmission success rate, and average effective sum spectrum efficiency were derived for the proposed schemes.Theoretical and simulation results reveal the impact of transmit power, SINR threshold, user number, group length, and the error level of channel on the performance of the proposed schemes, and demonstrate that the proposed schemes significantly reduce the pilot overhead and improve the transmission success rate compared to the full and partial training.…”

Optimal cooperative strategy based on quantum bat for cognitive radio of energy harvesting
Published 2018-09-01“…In order to reduce energy consumption and improve spectral efficiency of the cognitive relay wireless communication system in 5G network,an optimal cooperative transmission strategy of information and energy was designed for cognitive relay radio with wireless energy harvesting. For the proposed optimal cooperative strategy, the maximal throughput formula and outage probability of secondary user were deduced. In order to resolve the derived maximum throughput equation,a quantum bat algorithm which was based on the optimization mechanism of quantum computing and bat algorithm was designed to solve the deduced equation, and the optimal cooperative transmission scheme for information and energy could be obtained.Simulation results show that the proposed optimal cooperative strategy not only can meet the information transfer demand of primary user, but also can realize the energy self-supply of the secondary user system and improve the communication quality of the secondary user. The proposed optimal cooperative strategy has a better performance than the cooperative strategy of existing cognitive relay radio for different simulation scenarios.…”

Finite-element Stress and Deformation Analysis of a Geomembrane Face Rockfill Dam
Published 2022-01-01“…For a certain reservoir dam that is a geomembrane face rockfill dam,the composite geomembrane is used as the face slab on the dam surface to prevent seepage.A three-dimensional nonlinear finite-element model of this reservoir dam was built to simulate the dam filling construction, the laying of the composite geomembrane, and the process of reservoir impoundment. The stress and deformation of the dam body and the composite geomembrane during the completion and impoundment periods were analyzed, and the rationality of the structural design of this geomembrane face rockfill dam was demonstrated. The calculation results show that the distribution of the dam body displacement and stress before and after impoundment follows the general rules and that impoundment is beneficial to the safety of the dam. Moreover, the shear failure of the dam body is prevented. The composite geomembrane is subject to tensile strain and stress in the lower half of the face slab due to boundary constraints.Nevertheless, the lateral and longitudinal safety factors calculated meet the requirements of design specifications, and the safety of the geomembrane is guaranteed.…”
