Relative measurement and extrapolation of the scintillation quenching factor of $$\alpha $$ α -particles in liquid argon using DEAP-3600 data by DEAP Collaboration

    Published 2025-01-01
“…Abstract The knowledge of scintillation quenching of $$\alpha $$ α -particles plays a paramount role in understanding $$\alpha $$ α -induced backgrounds and improving the sensitivity of liquid argon-based direct detection of dark matter experiments. We performed a relative measurement of scintillation quenching in the MeV energy region using radioactive isotopes ( $$^{222}$$ 222 Rn, $$^{218}$$ 218 Po and $$^{214}$$ 214 Po isotopes) present in trace amounts in the DEAP-3600 detector and quantified the uncertainty of extrapolating the quenching factor to the low-energy region.…”

Top quark flavor changing neutral currents at Future Linear Colliders by Jueid Adil, Kanemura Shinya

    Published 2024-01-01
“…We first discuss the theoretical predictions of top quark FCNC decays into qH and qZ within a class of t–channel simplified dark matter models. For the existing bounds on the top quark FCNC interactions at the Large Hadron Collider, we estimate the production rates of top quark through FCNC interactions at future linear colliders for energies from 250 GeV to 3 TeV.…”

What Remains to Be Discovered? by Pavel Nováček

    Published 2021-10-01
“…Among the most promising challenges on the border between science and our imaginations, is an exploration of our universe, and potential contact with an extra-terrestrial civilisation, better understanding of space, time, matter, and energy (including “dark matter” and “dark energy”) and, of course, the “unthinkable” potential of the human brain. …”

Dark Energy in Spherically Symmetric Universe Coupled with Brans-Dicke Scalar Field by Koijam Manihar Singh, Gauranga C. Samanta

    Published 2019-01-01
“…Here, it is seen that the dark energy triggers the big bang and after that much of the dark energy reduces to dark matter. One peculiarity in such a model is that the scalar field is prevalent eternally; it never tends to zero.…”

Curvature-Restored Gauge Invariance and Ultraviolet Naturalness by Durmuş Ali Demir

    Published 2016-01-01
“…Gravity arises correctly if new physics exists with at least 63 more bosons than fermions, with no need to interact with the SM and with dark matter as a natural harbinger. It can source various cosmological, astrophysical, and collider phenomena depending on its spectrum and couplings to the SM.…”

On the structural stability of a simple cosmological model in R + αR2 theory of gravity by Orest Hrycyna

    Published 2025-01-01
“…We show that, in both frames, there are stable de Sitter states where the expansion of the Hubble function naturally includes terms corresponding to an effective dark matter component. Using the invariant centre manifold, we demonstrate that, in the Einstein frame, there exists a zero-measure set of initial conditions that lead from an unstable to a stable de Sitter state. …”

The Transcribed-Ultraconserved Regions: A Novel Class of Long Noncoding RNAs Involved in Cancer Susceptibility by Paola Scaruffi

    Published 2011-01-01
“…A large proportion of the transcriptional output is represented by protein noncoding RNAs (ncRNAs) that arise from the “dark matter” of the genome. Focus on such sequences has revealed numerous RNA subtypes with several functions in RNA processing and gene expression regulation, and deep sequencing studies imply that many remain to be discovered. …”

Discovering and Characterizing Hidden Variables Using a Novel Neural Network Architecture: LO-Net by Soumi Ray, Tim Oates

    Published 2011-01-01
“…Scientific inquiry has uncovered many such entities, such as black holes and dark matter. We claim that theoretical entities, or hidden variables, are important for the development of concepts within the lifetime of an individual and present a novel neural network architecture that solves three problems related to theoretical entities: (1) discovering that they exist, (2) determining their number, and (3) computing their values. …”

    Published 2010-01-01
“…This paper is a review on the observational Hubble parameter data that have gained increasing attention in recent years for their illuminating power on the dark side of the universe: the dark matter, dark energy, and the dark age. Currently, there are two major methods of independent observational H(z) measurement, which we summarize as the “differential age method” and the “radial BAO size method.” …”
