Fipronil prevents transmission of Lyme disease spirochetes
Published 2024-08-01“…No spirochetes were detected in any organ of mice exposed to fipronil-treated ticks, while 9 out of 10 control mice, exposed to non-treated infectious ticks, displayed Borrelia infection. The in vitro co-culture experiments confirmed that fipronil had no direct effect on Borrelia viability, indicating a tick-directed effect. …”

Influence of Adipose Tissue-Derived Stem Cells on the Burn Wound Healing Process
Published 2019-01-01“…Initially, intra-abdominal adipose tissue was resected from a single donor Wistar rat that was not part of any of the subsequent groups to obtain ADSCs by isolation and cell culture. Burns were made in the left lateral abdominal region of Wistar rats by contact with a square ceramic paper with a 484 mm2 area heated to 100°C for 30 seconds. …”

Screening of a Soil Tyrosianse Producing Bacterial Strain HM24 and Comparison of its Tyrosinase Activity in Different Mediums Containing Natural Sources of L-tyrosine
Published 2024-09-01“…Twenty strains were isolated from the soil of Langar, Kerman, Iran, with characteristics of actinobacteria (gram-positive filamentous or rod-shaped bacteria and powdery consistency colonies that stick firmly to agar surface). All strains were cultured in a medium with L-tyrosine to assess tyrosinase production. …”

Carrageenan-Induced Colonic Inflammation Is Reduced in Bcl10 Null Mice and Increased in IL-10-Deficient Mice
Published 2013-01-01“…IL-10-deficient mice exposed to carrageenan in a germ-free environment showed an increase in activation of the canonical pathway of NF-κB (RelA) activation, but without increase in RelB or phospho-Bcl10, and exogenous IL-10 inhibited only the canonical pathway of NF-κB activation in cultured colonic cells. These findings demonstrate a Bcl10 requirement for maximum development of carrageenan-induced inflammation and lack of complete suppression by IL-10 of carrageenan-induced inflammation.…”

Muscarinic cannabinoid suppression of excitation, a novel form of coincidence detection
Published 2025-02-01“…These receptors are implicated in several forms of synaptic plasticity – depolarization-induced suppression of excitation (DSE), metabotropic suppression of excitation (MSE), long term depression (LTD) and activation-dependent desensitization. TRAIL and Ceruloplasmin Inverse Correlation as a Representative Crosstalk between Inflammation and Oxidative Stress
Published 2018-01-01“…After stratification for high-sensitivity C-reactive protein levels, the inverse association between TRAIL and ceruloplasmin levels remained strong and significant (r=−0.508, p<0.001, R2=0.260) only in the presence of inflammation, confirming the role of inflammation as emerged in in vitro experiments where recombinant TRAIL decreased ceruloplasmin expression levels in TNF-treated PBMC cultures. Conclusion. The results indicated that in an inflammatory milieu, TRAIL downregulates ceruloplasmin expression, highlighting a signaling axis involving TRAIL and ceruloplasmin that are linked via inflammation and providing important insights with potential clinical implications.…”

Optimization of Fermentation Conditions for Increasing Erucamide Content in <i>Bacillus megaterium</i> Using Several Accelerants
Published 2025-01-01“…Univariate and orthogonal tests showed that 0.3% Tween 80, 0.004% Ca2+, 0.04% colza oil, and 0.02% chloroform were the best regulation conditions for erucamide production of the L2 strain, and erucamide content reached 1.778 mg/L, which was 32.59% higher than the blank group and 60.26% higher than before fermentation culture. The mechanism of membrane metabolism in the L2 strain was further investigated, and our data suggested that the conductivity, nucleic acid and protein content, and β-galactosidase activity of L2 were increased significantly after treatment with accelerants, indicating that the accelerants changed the cell membrane permeability of the L2 strain but did not harm or kill the bacteria. …”
