A Data-Driven Air Transportation Delay Propagation Model Using Epidemic Process Models
Published 2016-01-01“…In order to understand the behavior of the delay propagation over the network at different levels, we have constructed two different data-driven epidemic models approximating the dynamics of the system: (a) flight-based epidemic model and (b) airport-based epidemic model. …”

La recolocación de monumentos dentro del juego de pelota como mecanismo de activación ritual durante el periodo Clásico maya
Published 2020-06-01“…The reuse of stelae, located at special positions inside this architectonic context, mainly at the corners of the ballcourts and visible to the spectator, indicates that this relocation did not have a random or economical reason, such as reuse of these highly valuable materials as simple construction elements. In the case of Chactún, as well as in similar contexts at other sites such as Calakmul, we propose that this phenomenon had other connotative goals, that went from a practical use of the monuments as ballcourt markers, as they were placed in the corners and at the center of the court, to a ceremonial purpose where the power and prestige of the monuments were taken to be transferred to the newly constructed ballcourt, as part of an apotropaic activation ritual that enabled this constructed space for the practice of the very special ritual activities planned for it.…”

Investigating AI systems: examining data and algorithmic bias through hermeneutic reverse engineering
Published 2025-01-01“…Hermeneutic reverse engineering is a framework to unpack and understand different elements of a technocultural object and/or system that contribute to the construction of its meaning and contexts. It employs a speculative imagination of what other realities can be designed and includes cultural analysis to identify existing meanings and assumptions behind the technocultural object, identifying key elements of signification, and speculating possibilities of reassembling different meanings for the object. …”
