The Effect of Vacuum Annealing of Magnetite and Zero-Valent Iron Nanoparticles on the Removal of Aqueous Uranium by R. A. Crane, T. B. Scott

    Published 2013-01-01
“…Nanoparticles were introduced to batch systems containing the mine water under oxygen conditions representative of near-surface waters, with a uranyl solution studied as a simple comparator system. Despite the vacuum annealed nano-Fe0 having a 64.6% lower surface area than the standard nano-Fe0, similar U removal (>98%) was recorded during the initial stages of reaction with the mine water. …”

Work frequency band and BS spacing optimization of CBTC in 1.8 GHz under identical and adjacent interferences by Ruichen XU, Dahui ZHAN, Ji FANG, Hao DU, Huasheng LI

    Published 2017-04-01
“…Communication based train control system (CBTC) is assigned in 2.4 GHz unlicensed band, and is easily interfered by Wi-Fi,which caused several emergency brake accidents in Shenzhen and Beijing.Under identical and adjacent interferences from existing systems, choose appropriate frequency band, working bandwidth and station spacing to improve throughput and emergency brake probability for CBTC system is necessary.Firstly, interference research scenarios were analyzed. Then, safety isolation between CBTC train and interferes through deterministic calculation was calculated.Afterwards, appropriate working bandwidth, frequency band and BS spacing was obtained by comparing system level simulation results, including throughput and emergency brake probability,in different conditions.…”

From Baseline to Best Practice: An Advanced Feature Selection, Feature Resampling and Grid Search Techniques to Improve Injury Severity Prediction by Soukaina EL Ferouali, Zouhair Elamrani Abou Elassad, Sara Qassimi, Abdelmounaîm Abdali

    Published 2025-12-01
“…Fourth predictive systems are employed to investigate the intricate problem of predicting the severity of injuries sustained in traffic crashes using different regression algorithms, such as Random Forest, Decision Trees, XGBoost, and Artificial Neural Networks. Compared to comparable systems without feature selection, feature resampling, and optimization methods, the results demonstrate that employing optimized XGBoost along with grid search in conjunction with SelectKBest and SMOTE strategy has resulted in greater performance, with an 89% R2 score. …”
