Snake and staff symbolism and healing by Francois P. Retief, Louise Cilliers

    Published 2005-06-01
“…The origin of the double-snake emblem is shrouded in the mists of antiquity. In classical times it became the herald’s wand (caduceus) of Hermes, messenger of the gods who guided departed souls to the Underworld, and was seen as the protector of travellers, shepherds and merchants. …”

Microbios y mosquitos en la emergencia de la medicina tropical en Brasil y Argentina by Sandra Caponi

    Published 2020-12-01
“…Argentina, on the other hand, insisted on reducing all its sanitary problems to those that could be considered within a framework where microbiological studies were integrated with the strategies typical of classical hygiene. The distinction between these two research programs is linked to how the two international centers of reference, the Societé de Phatologie Exotique (1908) and The London School of Tropical Medicine (1898), approached the problem of tropical diseases that appeared in the overseas colonies. …”

“Revealing what cannot be spoken” – Gabriel Josipovici’s Short Stories as Illustrations of Transcendental Negativity by Werner Wolf

    Published 2014-06-01
“…This is followed by three interpretations of exemplary texts from his formative period, the 1970s: “He” (1977), the ‘self-begetting’ story of the creation of an elegy; the classic “Mobius the Stripper” (1974), which is his best-known story; and finally “The Reconstruction” (1974) as one of Josipovici’s most minimalist works, in which short fiction approaches the condition of drama. …”

EDWF-MTTF-based heuristic scheduling algorithm in time-sensitive networks by Chuanhuang LI, Junhu LIAO, Jiadong XUAN, Qi XU, Huifeng ZHANG, Jun ZHU, Tao ZOU, Ruyun ZHANG

    Published 2024-02-01
“…With the rapid integration and development of industrial control and information networks, time-sensitive networks based on ethernet have received widespread attention. In these networks, time-triggered communication scheduling is adopted to ensure the determinacy of data transmission. However, existing scheduling algorithms have struggled to rapidly calculate the scheduling tables for large-scale periodic traffic. Therefore, a heuristic scheduling algorithm based on the earliest deadline with weight first-maximum transfer time first was designed. This algorithm, by flexibly adapting traffic sorting weights and enhancing backtracking methods, could resolve the scheduling issues of large-scale traffic in industrial automation scenarios in a relatively short time.Experimental results show that compared to the classic integer linear programming method, the earliest deadline with weight first-maximum transfer time first heuristic scheduling algorithm is able to calculate a more optimal solution for the scheduling table of large-scale periodic traffic more swiftly.…”

Decoherence-enabled unconditional strongly sub-Poissonian squeezing by Qing Xu, Ke Zhang, Xiaobo Shen, Haijun Yu, Jiabing Zhu

    Published 2025-01-01
“…It is generally accepted that the role of quantum decoherence is to spoil the quantum superpositions and to yield the emergence of the classical behaviors from quantum mechanics. Contrary to the common knowledge of decoherence, we propose a scheme to generate a steady-state bright source of strongly sub-Poissonian squeezed light using the environmentally induced decoherence. …”

Nonlinear Augmented Proportional Navigation for Midrange Rendezvous Guidance and Performance Assessment by Weilin Wang, Xumin Song

    Published 2019-01-01
“…The guidance law is named augmented proportional navigation (APN) by applying nonlinear control along LOS and classical proportional navigation normal to LOS. As saving time is a critical factor in space rescue and on-orbit service, the finite time convergence APN (FTCAPN) is further proposed which proves to possess convergence and high robustness. …”

Research Prospect of Anti-Jamming Strategy for the Satellite Internet by Chen HAN, Aijun LIU, Kang AN

    Published 2022-03-01
“…As an important infrastructure of the national information system, the satellite internet is of great signifi cance to the national security. Thus, it needs to ensure the validity and reliability of the data transmission in the hostile jamming environment. The threat of smart jamming and the limitation of classical link-layer anti-jamming methods give rise to the new demand of intelligent and networked antijamming solutions. In view of the structural characteristics of the satellite internet and the development trend of modern communication jamming technologies, this paper analyzed the basic architecture of intelligent and networked anti-jamming.Based on the closed-loop strategic of sense-learn-prediction-decision-feedback, intelligent and active anti-jamming decision was made to realized self-confi guration and self-optimization.Based on the cooperative communication between nodes, networked anti-jamming ability was improved by the means of topology control and reconstruction, adjacent resources reallocation, and traffi c load balancing. It provided certain theoretical support for the construction of anti-jamming strategy system to achieved the cross-layer optimization, multi-domain combination, and adaptive intelligence.…”
