Sensitivity Study of WRF Parameterization Schemes and Initial Fields on Rainstorm Simulation in Minjiang River Basin by LIN Sinuo, ZHANG Yinchi, SUN Shao, GUAN Xiaojun, JIANG Caiying, GAO Lu

    Published 2023-01-01
“…,weather research and forecasting (WRF) model,16 sets of microphysical processes and cumulus convection parameterization schemes are cross-combined to simulate the sensitivity of a continuous rainstorm process in the Minjiang River Basin from May 17 to 24,2021.The results show that the WRF model can reproduce the spatio-temporal distribution characteristics of this rainfall process, but it significantly overestimates the intensity and extent of the storm center, with the overall better performance of EXP9 (Lin-NT combination). For the mass sensitivity test of initial fields, the simulation results based on the optimal combination of parameterization schemes reveal that the fifth-generation atmospheric reanalysis of the European Center for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ERA5) has a sound effect for all magnitudes of rainfalls.Meanwhile,it best matches the spatio-temporal characteristics of the observed data, followed by global data assimilation system/final operational global analysis (GDAS/FNL),while climate forecast system operational analysis (CFS) is the worst. This study can provide methodological references for improving the accuracy of extreme rainfall simulation and forecasting.…”

Capacity Density Assessment of Satellite Constellation Network by Xian MENG, Dali QIN, Yu WANG, Chuili KONG, Hejia LUO, Jun WANG

    Published 2023-09-01
“…The traditional analytical method greatly underestimates the throughput capability of the system in low beam density scenario, and cannot reveal the capacity saturation phenomenon in high beam density scenario. To overcome the preceding problems, a new system simulation method was proposed to accurately evaluated the capacity density indicator of satellite constellation network and integrated satellite and terrestrial network, Based on this method, first, the capacity density of different longitude and latitude regions of the earth was evaluated. It could be observed that the capacity density of the same region varies greatly with the movement of the satellite, and the maximum capacity density was twice the minimum. Then, areas with higher visibility usually had higher capacity density. In high-frequency scenarios, the impact of atmospheric attenuation on capacity density could not be ignored. Finally, for the integrated satellite and terrestrial network, the evaluation results showed that the capacity density of cellular coverage and satellite coverage could differ by four orders of magnitude. In order to improved the capacity density of satellite constellation network, two technical paths were attempted: increasing the maximum number of illuminated beams and increasing the satellite scale. The results showed that the performance was better when the constellation scale was increased when the total beams of the constellation were the same. However, the two ways to increase the total number of beams in a constellation had an upper bound on capacity, and the marginal effect decreased significantly. Finally, a scheme to increase the gain of satellite antenna was proposed. The simulation results showed that the proposed scheme could significantly increase the capacity density of constellation.…”

Factors Controlling Stable Hydrogen,Oxygen, and Carbon Isotope Ratios in Regional Shallow Groundwater of Guangzhou City,China by ZENG Hui, ZHUO Quanlong, ZHANG Mingzhu, PANG Yuan, LIANG Zuobing

    Published 2023-01-01
“…To investigate the distribution characteristics and controlling factors of stable hydrogen, oxygen, and carbon isotopes in shallow groundwater in Guangzhou,18 shallow groundwater monitoring wells in Guangzhou were selected. This study analyzed the component characteristics of stable hydrogen and oxygen isotopes in surface water and groundwater, stable isotopes of dissolved inorganic carbon in groundwater, and ammonium nitrogen isotope in groundwater in Guangzhou City and investigated the influencing factors of groundwater hydrological characteristics and the evolution of dissolved inorganic carbon. The results show that atmospheric precipitation is an important source of shallow groundwater recharge, and there is a close hydraulic connection between groundwater and surface water in Conghua District, northern Guangzhou, where precipitation directly recharges groundwater and is less affected by evaporation;near the southern coastal area of Guangzhou, groundwater may be affected by seawater intrusion. The deuterium excess parameter (d-excess) values in groundwater in Conghua District are significantly influenced by the control of groundwater retention time, and the significantly low d-excess values in the southern coastal area of Guangzhou may be influenced by the seawater intrusion. The evolution of DIC in shallow groundwater is significantly influenced by anthropogenic factors, and the value of δ13CDIC in the water body is higher. In contrast,high-ammonium groundwater mainly comes from the degradation of natural organic matter, and the high concentration of NH+4 is the main reason for the abnormally high δ13CDIC value in groundwater.…”
