The Effect of Aggregate-Forming Minerals on Thermodynamic Parameters Using Surface Free Energy Concept and Its Relationship with the Moisture Susceptibility of Asphalt Mixtures
Published 2021-01-01“…The mineral properties of the aggregates of asphalt mixtures are one of the factors affecting moisture susceptibility. Therefore, the surface free energy (SFE) method, as one of the thermodynamic methods, and indirect tensile strength test (ITST) have been used to determine the failure mechanism and the rate of change of adhesion properties of asphalt mixtures under the influence of mineralogical characteristics. …”

Antitumor effect of Bothrops jararaca venom
Published 2002-01-01“…It was observed that in vivo treatment with BjV induced tumor growth inhibition, increased animal survival time, decreased mortality, increased the influx of polymorphonuclear leukocytes on the early stages of tumor growth, and did not affect the mononuclear cells number. In vitro treatment with BjV produced a dose-dependent toxic effect on EAT and peritoneal cells, with higher effects against peritoneal cells. …”

Thrombin Generation in Acute Ischaemic Stroke
Published 2016-01-01“…Endogenous thrombin potential and peak thrombin did not indicate hypercoagulability after acute ischaemic stroke, and thrombolytic therapy did not affect thrombin generation assays. Conclusion. Our findings suggest that thrombin generation in platelet poor plasma is not useful in defining hypercoagulability in acute ischaemic stroke. …”

Do meteorological variables impact air quality differently across urbanization gradients? A case study of Kaohsiung, Taiwan, China
Published 2025-01-01“…The results revealed that: (1) Suburban areas exhibited significantly better air quality than urban and near-urban areas, with annual AQI values of 59.58 in Meinong (outskirts), 67.86 in Renwu (suburbs area), and 76.73 in Qianjin (urban area), showing a progressive improvement in air quality from urban to suburban areas, primarily due to lower levels of urbanization and abundant forest resources; (2) Temperature and relative humidity emerged as key meteorological variables influencing AQI, with Granger causality tests indicating that temperature significantly affects AQI, especially in urban areas. Impulse response analysis revealed that temperature had a notable positive and negative correlation effect on AQI over lagged periods, while wind speed showed a negative correlation with AQI in suburban areas, gradually shifting to a positive correlation over time; (3) Variance decomposition indicated that temperature had the largest impact on AQI in urban areas, particularly with cumulative lag effects, while wind speed was the main variables influencing air quality in suburban areas. …”
