Incidence of alexithymia in worsening symptoms and quality of life of Systemic Lupus Erythematosus patients (SLE)
Published 2025-04-01“…Results: Comparisons between the two groups revealed significant differences in the Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) patients, compared to the control group, about the difficulty in identifying feelings and distinguishing them from the bodily sensations accompanying emotional activation, the use of conversion as a defence mechanism and the production of positive symptoms. Moreover, in the same group, the difficulty in identifying emotions was correlated with quality of life, since those who have difficulty identifying emotions have a poorer quality of life.Further analysis regarding the construct of alexithymia, within the patient group alone, revealed a tendency towards somatisation and the use of immature defence mechanisms, including conversion, acting out, projection, dissociation and displacement, highlighting a tendency to act out and project emotional suffering.Furthermore, there appeared to be difficulty in sharing emotional distress with others, indicating a deep sense of insecurity and a need for approval, as well as an incidence in the perception of the state of illness leading to a decline in the quality of life. …”

Genome-Wide Identification and Expression Analysis of the GRF and GIF Gene Families in Prunus avium
Published 2025-01-01“…Genome-wide analysis showed 13 GRF genes on eight chromosomes and three GIF genes on three chromosomes in P. avium, clustered into three and two branches, respectively. Cis-acting element analysis indicated that the PavGRF promoters contained regulatory elements associated with hormones, light stress, and growth development. …”

A New Antibody–Cytokine Construct Targeting Natural Killer Cells: An Immunotherapeutic Approach to Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia
Published 2025-01-01“…We designed and developed a cis-acting immunocytokine composed of an anti-CD56 single-chain Fragment variable (scFv) and IL15, labeled scFvB1IL15. scFvB1IL15 was tested in vitro on peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) obtained from both different healthy donors (HDs) and CLL patients in order to evaluate its ability to target NK cells and enhance their activation and NK-mediated directed cytotoxicity. scFvB1IL15 specifically induced strong degranulation and cytokine and chemokine production in NK cells in both HD- and CLL patient-derived PBMC samples. …”

Harnessing the power of proteins in modulation of miRNAs for targeting Iron deficiency Anemia: Opinion for future implications and strategies
Published 2025-01-01“…Emerging evidence underscores the pivotal role of miRNAs—such as miR-15a, miR-24, miR-150, and miR-223—in regulating erythropoiesis, with dysregulation linked to hematologic and systemic diseases. Proteins, acting as modulators of miRNA activity, present innovative pathways for intervention by influencing erythropoiesis at multiple stages, from stem cell proliferation to red blood cell maturation. …”

Ice speed of a Greenlandic tidewater glacier modulated by tide, melt, and rain
Published 2025-01-01“…Tidally modulated ice speed peaks coincided with or slightly before low tide, which demonstrates the key role viscoelastic ice dynamics play in response to changing hydrostatic pressure acting on the glacier front. Our study results reveal details of short-term flow variations near the front of a Greenlandic tidewater glacier and provide insights into calving glacier dynamics. …”
