Ecological Water Demand Calculation with the Consideration of the Health of Fish Spawning Ground——A Case Study of Dongta Spawning Ground in Xijiang River by ZHOU Huabin, YU Chunxue, SU Meirong

    Published 2020-01-01
“…Taking theDongta spawning ground in the Xijiang River Basin as the study area and four major Chinese carpsas the target species for the first time, this paper constructs the related suitability curve forthe hydrodynamic characteristic index, simulates the effects of factors such as flow velocity andwater depth on fish spawning grounds at different flow conditions by a two-dimensional riverhydrodynamic model, River2D, establishes the relationship between the flow conditions and weightedusable area (WUA) of four major Chinese carps habitats to determine the ecological water demand inthe study area. …”

Analysis on Changes in Water Level-Flow of the Pearl River Basin in Recent Years and Its Causes by TANG Jiaqi, DUAN Kai, HAO Lu

    Published 2021-01-01
“…Aiming at the impact of climate change and rapid urbanization on the hydrological situation in the Pearl River Basin in recent years, this paper analyzes the evolution trend and variation characteristics of the water level, flow and water level-flow of 16 major hydrological stations in the Pearl River Basin from 1997 to 2013,and discusses the causes of the evolution of water level and flow in each sub-basin based on the meteorological, hydraulic engineering, and water and sediment data in the historical period. The results show that:①The average annual flow of most stations in the Pearl River Basin didn't change significantly, but the Jiangbianjie,Chongwei and Liuzhou stations in the Xijiang River Basin showed a significant reduction trend;②The flow of most stations in the flood season decreased, while that in the dry season increased. The different precipitation during the dry/flood season was the important factors leading to the change of flow in the Pearl River Basin;③The water level of most stations in the Xijiang River Basin showed a significant upward trend, which was caused by the aggravating water and soil loss. While under the influence of reservoir operation and sand mining activities, the Beijiang River Basin and the lower reaches of the Dongjiang River Basin showed a trend of riverbed down-cutting and water level lowering.…”

Ecological Flow Scheduling Solutions of Beijiang River by CHEN Yan, CHEN Xiang

    Published 2023-01-01
“…Beijiang River is one of the four major river systems in the Pearl River Basin. The discharge of its control section Shijiao can represent the ecological flow of the Beijiang River.Additionally,it can also cooperate with the water regulation of Xijiang River during the saltwater intrusion in the Pearl River Delta and control the water volume of the Sixianjiao Section entering the delta, which is significant for the water security of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. This paper first analyzes the current ecological flow of the control section of the Beijiang River. Then, the paper builds the reservoir group scheduling model according to the existing problems. Finally,it researches the ecological flow scheduling in the basin to propose an ecological flow scheduling scheme for the Beijiang River.…”

Study on the Regional and Hierarchical Scheduling Structure of the Sluice Pump Group in the Network of Pearl River Delta by HU Xiaozhang, LI Qingmin, LIU Bingjun, WAN Donghui, LIU Zhuangtian

    Published 2020-01-01
“…The pattern of river and lake system interconnection will have a major impact onregional water demand, such as flood control and drainage, water resource utilization andecological environment protection. Taking the Xijiang River and Beijiang River Delta as theresearch object, and taking into full account the information of natural geography, hydrology andhydraulic engineering, this paper analyzes the structure of the river network in delta, establishes the natural nodes and artificial control nodes of the river network, and on such abasis, hierarchically divides the river network in delta according to the water system, embankments, area and creeks., and constructs the regional and hierarchical scheduling structurefor the sluice pump group in the river network area based on the distribution of water resources, water environment, node and important water diversion and drainage channels.…”

General Design Layout of Datengxia Ship Lock by LI Yawen, CHEN Guihua

    Published 2022-01-01
“…The Datengxia hydro project is a key project to open the 100-million-ton golden waterway of the Xijiang River, with high navigation requirements for the dam-site reach and a huge freight volume. The general design layout of the navigation structure ship lock plays a vital role in the layout scheme, freight volume, operation management, and investment of the whole hydro project. For the general design of the ship lock, the position of the ship lock is first selected according to the topographical and geological conditions of the project area and the layout requirements of the hydro project. On this basis, this study designs the lock head, lock chamber, water conveyance system, upstream and downstream approach channels, entrance area and connecting section, anchorage to be locked, etc.Additionally, the structural dimensions of the water conveyance system and rectification measures in the entrance area are optimized according to the model test results. The Datengxia ship lock has reached the highest level of ship locks built at home and abroad in terms of the scale, water head,water-level variation amplitude conditions, and hydraulic index requirements. Its general layout can provide a certain reference for the design of large-scale and high water-head ship locks.…”

Assessment of Multi-attribute Flood Risk in the Pearl River Basin Considering the Reasonable Service Life of the Project by WANG Hanye, HUANG Shengzhi, WANG Lu, FANG Wei

    Published 2020-01-01
“…Based on this, this paper adopts the daily flow data of typicalhydrological stations in the Pearl River Basin from 1997 to 2017, and selects floods by the peaksover threshold method to enrich the flood samples, builds the joint distribution function of floodpeak and volume by Copula function, calculates the joint return period, and builds the flood riskindex with consideration of the joint return period and the reasonable service life of project. The results show that: ① Under the combination of flood peak and flood volume in the same returnperiod, compared with other stations, the risk of flood with high peak or large volume is thehighest in Yujiang River, while risk of flood with high peak and large volume is the highest inLiujiang River (except 10-year return period); ② When the reasonable service life of Type I largewater conservancy project (dam, n=50~100 years) is considered, the risk of flood with high peakor large volume is the highest in Xijiang River; and ③ The risk of flood with high peak and largevolume exceeding the design value is the highest in Liujiang River.…”
