Revisiting Weimar Film Reviewers’ Sentiments: Integrating Lexicon-Based Sentiment Analysis with Large Language Models by Isadora Campregher Paiva, Josephine Diecke

    Published 2024-07-01
“…These results are particularly impressive given that this corpus is especially challenging for automated sentiment analysis, with a prevalence of macabre themes, which can easily trigger falsely negative results, and a high number of mixed reviews. We believe this hybrid approach could prove useful for application in large corpora, for which close reading of all reviews would be humanly impossible.…”

Modification of Platelet Count on the Association between Homocysteine and Blood Pressure: A Moderation Analysis in Chinese Hypertensive Patients by Jianan Zhang, Jing Li, Shi Chen, Linglin Gao, Xiaoluan Yan, Mingzhi Zhang, Jia Yu, Fenchun Wang, Hao Peng

    Published 2020-01-01
“…If adding the interaction term of homocysteine and platelet count could explain more variance in BP and the interaction is significant, then we believe that moderation is occurring. Results. The association between serum homocysteine and diastolic BP was significantly stronger (β = 0.092 vs. 0.035, P=0.004) in participants with low platelet count (<210 × 109/L) than in those with high platelet count (≥210 × 109/L). …”

The Resuscitation, Equilibrium and De-escalation (RED) strategy: a phased, personalized hemodynamic support in children with sepsis by Jaime Fernández-Sarmiento, Sushitra Ranjit, L. Nelson Sanchez-Pinto, Vinay M. Nadkarni, Roberto Jabornisky, Niranjan Kissoon

    Published 2025-01-01
“…After the resuscitation phase, active fluid removal through diuresis or dialysis is increasingly being used in patients who receive fluid therapy, but it has not yet been standardized, and the safest and most effective strategies in children are still not known. We believe that these interventions for hemodynamic problems in sepsis offer an opportunity to personalize treatment and apply precision medicine strategies. …”

Respiratory dysfunction in whiplash associated disorders (WAD) with cervical plexus syndrome – A case report by NA Nystrom, SR Daulat, A Zakaria, M Petersen, VM Moodley, LP. Champagne

    Published 2025-03-01
“…In 2019, his condition deteriorated, with significantly increased pain and dyspnea leading to further evaluations that included laboratory studies and consultations with specialists in neurosurgery, neurology, pulmonology, neurophysiology, ENT, general internal medicine, cardiology, radiology, speech pathology, physical medicine, orthopedic surgery, and hand surgery at three separate academic centers in Norway.Eventually, the patient was diagnosed with a condition that is regularly observed among patients referred to our office for evaluation and surgical treatment of chronic, whiplash related pain, and that we propose to label Cervical Plexus Syndrome. One year following exploration and neurolysis of sensory nerves to the right and left superficial cervical plexus, the patient remains pain free, with unimpeded speech and breathing as demonstrated by postoperative spirometry and video recordings.Although the underlying pathophysiology remains unclear, we report what we believe to be the first successful surgical treatment of serious respiratory dysfunction from pain generators in tissue that historically is considered anatomically and functionally separate from the mechanics of breathing. …”
