Spatiotemporal variation of high-temperature events and its relation to coral bleaching in the Ryukyu Islands, Japan
Published 2025-01-01“…Abstract Coral bleaching occurs when symbiotic dinoflagellate algae leave corals due to warming surface waters. Since the early 1980s, the number and intensity of coral bleaching events have significantly risen globally, and many coral reefs are concerned to undergo irreversible phase shifts due to global warming. …”

Detecting Fish Diversity in Urban‐Impacted Ecosystems: A Comparative Approach of eDNA Metabarcoding and UVC
Published 2024-11-01“…Yet, each survey method featured a distinct species profile with associated trophic guilds, where 98 (32.3%) species found exclusively by UVC and 120 (39.6%) species detected only by eDNA. eDNA featured species from diverse habitats and evolutionary distances, including cryptic and large mobile fishes, offering enhanced prediction on local ecosystem functions. eDNA also recorded 90 putative species that had never been recorded in additional seven yearlong UVC dataset, with seven prospective new occurrence records to the territorial waters. UVC on the other hand was more efficient in documenting reef‐associated species. …”

Ecological reef restoration: consumptive and nonconsumptive interactions among common North Sea predators and European oysters
Published 2025-01-01“…Historic populations of European oysters (Ostrea edulis) have been decimated by overfishing and are nowadays considered functionally extinct in European waters. To halt and reverse the associated biodiversity loss, oyster reef restoration was implemented into marine conservation measures and several reef restoration projects started across Europe. …”

Exploring the dynamics of seasonal surface features using coastal and regional ocean community model
Published 2023-10-01“…Surface eddies along the western bay extend to deep waters before the onset of monsoon. The net heat flux in the bay has been determined as positive before monsoon, negative post-monsoon, and mixed during the monsoon season.CONCLUSION: This analysis focuses on the ocean surface layer with more prominent dynamics. …”
