The analysis of the archival and documentary materials of the period 1937–1991 shows that the students’ scientific research in Khabarovsk Institute of Railway Transport Engineers passed through several stages in its development from the disparate scientific unions to the system of scientific research involving up to 90% of students to scientific research and has become an important and necessary part in the training of highly qualified specialists. …”
