Ameliorative Effect of Hovenia dulcis Fruit Pedicel Polysaccharides on Alcohol-Induced Intestinal Injury in Mice Investigated Using 16S rRNA Sequencing and Metabolomics
Published 2025-02-01“…The results indicated that HDPs significantly reduced the levels of pro-inflammatory factors such as interleukin-4 (IL-4), interferon-gamma (IFN-γ), and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) in mice with intestinal injury induced by alcohol, decreased the levels of lipopolysaccharide (LPS) and lipopolysaccharide binding protein (LBP), increased the level of α-amylase (AMS), and upregulated the tight junction protein Claudin 1, thereby improving intestinal barrier function. 16S rRNA sequencing revealed that compared to mice gavaged with alcohol at 114 µL/20 g mb, HDPs increased the abundance of the Lactobacillus genus and reduced alcohol exposure-induced disorders in gut microbiota diversity and structure. …”

Can Radiomics of Dynamic PET Imaging with 11C-methionine Predict EGFR Amplification Status in Glioblastoma?
Published 2024-11-01“…Three datasets were used to predict EGFR amplification status via machine learning: 1) Radiomic features calculated as time series for each image biomarker; 2) Dynamic tumor-to-normal brain ratio (T/N) of radiopharmaceutical uptake - time series of T/N peak for 26 frames; 3) Static T/N - peak, max, and average T/N for static images. …”

Feature Selection in Cancer Classification: Utilizing Explainable Artificial Intelligence to Uncover Influential Genes in Machine Learning Models
Published 2024-12-01“…To mitigate these challenges, the SHAP (Shapley Additive Explanations) method was applied to generate a list of features, aiming to understand which characteristics influenced the models’ decision-making processes and, consequently, the prediction results for the five tumor types. The SHAP analysis identified 119, 80, and 10 genes for the RF, XGB, and DT models, respectively, totaling 209 genes, resulting in 172 unique genes. …”

Cancer stem cell populations are resistant to 5-aminolevulinic acid-photodynamic therapy (5-ALA-PDT)
Published 2025-02-01“…Identifying the mechanisms of resistance to 5-ALA-PDT-mediated cell death is important to prevent tumor recurrence following 5-ALA-PDT. Previously, we reported that oncogenic activation of Ras/MEK promotes PPIX efflux and reduces cellular sensitivity to 5-ALA-PDT through increased expression of ABCB1 transporter. …”
